As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

Re: Show Off Your New Watch
My SARB017 came in today. I must say, I now understand the Alpinist hype. It is a really beautiful watch and the size is perfect. I'm quite enamored and like it a lot more than I thought I would. My only gripe is the band. It's stiff and not sure I like the feel. Hopefully it breaks in well because...

Re: Name a movie that you recently enjoyed
Saw Le Mans '66 (or as some of you will call it 'Ford v. Ferrari ') with the Mrs. She loved it despite not being into anything of the petrol head persuasion. It has such a great human story to it, beautifully scripted and portrayed that the scenes where you are going 220mph down the Mulsanne Strait,...

Re: 2020 New and Upcoming Releases!
The Expedition is sold out but starting THIS SUNDAY at 9 a.m. eastern (1400 UK time), they are taking orders for another round. https://www.timefactors.com/closed1.htm Note Eddie says he's only taking as many orders as he can fill next week, so there may not be many slots available. Apologies but i...

Re: Short straps.
Great topic. Thanks for starting it. Watchgecko.com has some shorter straps but they're often not obvious unless you dig into the details. I just bought one of these straight end milanese bracelets for my diver in 150mm length (brushed version). Its a very good bracelet. https://www.watchgecko.com/g...

Re: Heads Up! I Saw A Bargain Here! 2019
My straps from the Helgray Black Friday Sale arrived and I'm happy that they are the same quality as the black racing strap that came with my Helgray Le Mans. The only differences are the buckles being shiny and a different size signature. Pretty marginal. They were $9 each, less 15% new customer di...

Re: Heads Up! I Saw A Bargain Here! 2019
NAD Watchgecko / Geckota have slapped on postage charges on orders under £25. Despite the 'Free shipping to over xx countries" banner on product pages next to each price. That's a shame, I was enjoying treating myself to the odd strap as they came up on their current sale. Shopping there was a ...

Re: Heads Up! I Saw A Bargain Here! 2019
Sadly that is the impression I have gotten too. I say "sadly" because some of their watches have been rather nice looking. On the other hand, while I am appreciative of anyone posting sales (and real kudos to peskydonut for posting these; I feel bad for being a downer :( ), I do have to s...

Isn't Helgray an 'orphan' brand? Once you buy one, you're on your own. This seems to be a consistent comment that keeps popping across forums. Helgray is having their BF Sale: https://www.helgray.com/collections/sale The $9 leather straps caught my eye... https://www.helgray.com/collections/sale/pr...

Re: What is a FRANKEN watch?
There is yet another use of the term 'Franken' that I'm aware of. That is using legitimate parts to improve the shortcomings of a r*pl*c*.

My best of the best list: I don't think I've seen any listed so far. Might be wrong [emoji3] Animal Kingdom. Stop it every 5 mins to work out what on earth might happen next. The Bureau (France w/ subtitles). Real spys drive a clapped out Renault. So tense. Preacher. An acquired taste but hilarious ...
