Some Personal News
Re: Some Personal News
Mrs.MoT and I spent about 8 hours in her clinic and then the ER yesterday. Her appetite has been really diminished during this round so she hasn't been eating a whole lot, and her fluid intake has been pretty low as well.
She'd been complaining of dizziness, shortness of breath and general malaise so she contacted the clinic who suggested she come in. Once there they did bloodwork (which came back with very positive results, again) and did vitals. They also started IV fluids and because she had a slight fever and the other symptoms, she had a chest x-ray to look for pneumonia, which came back negative.
After the first set of fluids, she drastically improved, but because they like to err on the side of caution (and I totally agree with it) they sent us down the street to the hospital for a chest CT to look for pulmonary embolism. At the hostpital, they hooked her up to more fluids and did the CT which also came back negative, a good thing! The doctor is theorizing the dehydration was the cause of the issues she was having.
Well before the second set of fluids were done (and we were sent home) Mrs.MoT was complaining about being hungry. which was very good to hear! We came home, I made her some food and after a while, she went to bed. Her condition last night was a complete 180 from what it was yesterday morning.
She was even awake before me today and is on the verge of strangling me because I keep nagging her to drink.

Re: Some Personal News
Whoa...sounds like you followed the right protocol. Very glad to hear Mrs MOT is feeling better.
Re: Some Personal News
Glad to hear nothing was amiss Mrs.MoT other than dehydration.
I know you'll ensure that doesn't happen again.

Re: Some Personal News
Stay strong, Mrs. MoT.
And, MoT, it's great that she has you by her side.

Re: Some Personal News
Great news there. And keep nagging MoT. Just don't tell Mrs. MoT I said that.
Re: Some Personal News
Beware, wall of text ahead!
I've been in the hospital with Mrs.MoT since Tuesday afternoon because she just wasn't getting better after we went in for the issues in my previous post.
Her pulse was extremely high (over 140 at one point) and respiratory rate was close to or at 80 breaths a minute. Pretty scary stuff. After a huge laundry list of tests (various CTs, ultrasounds, blood workups, etc) her oncology and the ID (infectious disease) teams decided her infusion port was host to an infection, and that's most likely what was showing up in the lungs.
She's been on fluids and IV antibiotics the whole time and this morning they removed her port and did a heart TEE to see if any infection has spread there. She's exhausted and somewhat overwhelmed (she has a deep, psychological, traumatic fear of needles), but is already doing much better than she was when we arrived.
The plan going forward is at least two more days here on antibiotics to make sure the infection gets knocked down and to keep an eye on other blood levels. She could also require another four weeks of antibiotics, but we're hoping those will be able to be down at home.
So long story short, this is the reason the stats are late this month, but I promise they are coming.

Re: Some Personal News
I am praying for you and MrsMoT. Halaku is right...the stats are not important right now. Then again, sometimes we need to “do our thing” to keep a sense of normalcy. If the stats help you in that regard then by all means...but don’t feel like you need to do it for the board. We aren’t going anywhere .
Re: Some Personal News
Honestly don't care about the stats. Take care of your wife (and yourself)!
I wish that watch were 38mm?
Re: Some Personal News
The only stats that matter right now belong to Mrs.MoT.
Best wishes to her and you through this trying time.

Re: Some Personal News
Echoing others here, the stats can wait. Mrs. MoT should be Priority One. We're not going anywhere.

Re: Some Personal News
I am glad to hear that the scare is somewhat over and that they have at least figured some things out. Nothing scarier than the unknown. We are wishing her the best and hope that you both are home safe soon. As much as I love the stats, I don't care about them right now. Get Mrs. MoT home and get yourself settled back in, THEN worry about the stats. Be well and we all wish you both the best and are looking forward to both of your return to the forum. FTE seems to be taking care of business quite well, so you are in good hands. Just take care of Mrs. MOT and yourself first. We got this bud, but appreciate you letting us know.

Re: Some Personal News
The only stat I want to see is Mrs MoT 1, Cancer 0.
Re: Some Personal News
I know this all sucks. I hope you're holding up OK, MoT. Take care of Mrs MoT.
Re: Some Personal News
Hoping that Mrs. MoT is well on her way to recovering from what will prove to be a temporary setback. You both remain in our thoughts and prayers.
