Want to work in the watch industry? Or rather the watch journalism industry. I don't look at this publication all that much but when I do, I'm always impressed with the photography. Just thought I'd put it out there in case anyone here is considering a career change.
We’re Hiring! Join Team Watchonista!
As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

Re: Watchonista is hiring
Very cool, but not cool enough to write a new resume just about watches.
Hopefully others have the time because it would be seriously fun.

Re: Jobs in the Watch World
I recently moved and the first people I’ve met are watch and clock professionals. They are relatively old in terms of career guys. And they’re all telling me I need to open a watch shop. Apparently they are literally overwhelmed with basic stuff like battery changes, bracelet sizing, etc. They look at me with a straight face and swear it would be more than I can handle if I want the work.
I’m wondering how big of a demand there is for a mail-in service that would be nationwide and advertised as such. Kinda seems like a no-brainer. Mail it in, get your service, free shipping back.
Thoughts?

Not sure if the need for battery replacement makes sense for sending in a watch. Too much shipping costs and potential loss through carriers to justify.Robotaz wrote: ↑Sat Oct 31, 2020 6:36 pm I recently moved and the first people I’ve met are watch and clock professionals. But for more involved service, cleaning, etc. That would make sense as there are plenty of collectors out there who don't live near to good, reliable watchmakers.
