Leather Strap Question- New Strap Conditioning???

Post by Sporkboy »

When you get a new leather strap, do you do anything to condition it prior to wearing or do you just start wearing it?

I have started wearing a leather strap for the first time in a long time and was wondering if there is something I should be doing. Thanks.

Some guys may use a leather conditioner on the strap's underside (Lexol, for one, can change the strap's color) but I simply flex it a bunch of times, particularly near the spring bars, and wear it. It will break in and stretch eventually.
Just my $0.02 USD as always.

This is what do as well. Just give it a few days and it will start to break in.

Thanks guys. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing something that would shorten the useful life of my new strap.
