OK, some shots on leather. Still a gap, but not nearly as bad as before.

This project is not for me, so my opinion is moot.Sporkboy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 2:58 pm
But seems a big gap when using a bracelet.

Re: 3D Printed 5600 NATO Adapters- Work In Progress
That is a fair point. I am not sure if it is this particular bracelet, but when used on other watches there is also quite a gap. I may need to move those holes a bit more back so long as the NATO can handle it.TheJohnP wrote:This project is not for me, so my opinion is moot.Sporkboy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 01, 2019 2:58 pm

Re: 3D Printed 5600 NATO Adapters- Work In Progress
I think leather tends to fill a gap more than metal does, so that could come into play.
Also could be because the bracelet is stainless instead of black, so more of a noticeable contrast.

Re: 3D Printed 5600 NATO Adapters- Work In Progress
I would enjoy the opportunity to help test them, but I don't have many strap options for that purpose. In fact, I only have natos. Maybe somebody else would be a better beta tester? Also: the only Gs I could test with are a couple squares, while the adapter should also work with model DW6900, etc. It would be nice to test them with these other models, too.
Here is a list of models compatible with the JaysAndKays adapters, if that's any guide -- I copied it from their etsy page. It includes DW5600, so I figure your adapter should fit them too:
Maybe you should accept a volunteer who is better equipped than I. Better testing -> better product -> everybody benefits. I think what you're doing is awesome -- the proprietary lugs on Gs have always bugged me because I want to be able to change straps (and the JaysAndKays are too big imo).DW5600/GW5600

Your arguments make sense, though once I get my feedback I will send you a few sets anyway. It is the least I can do for all that you have contributed. I will open up the Beta test slot to someone else.BostonCharlie wrote:I would enjoy the opportunity to help test them, but I don't have many strap options for that purpose. If anyone has a number of Models from the list above and is interested in testing some NATO/strap adapters and providing feedback, please let me know.
As these are prototypes and are 3D printed they aren’t as sturdy as injection molded plastic. I haven’t had any of these explode for a couple of days, but there is always some amount of risk involved with 3D printed parts.

Re: 3D Printed 5600 NATO Adapters- Work In Progress
I tested the last design to failure and both adapters broke at the same point, which was completely expected given the orientation of the layer lines and the thinnest part of the adapter.
I am going to see if I can thicken this area enough to add strength without doing anything hideous.

The other options to resolve this are a new material or another orientation. I will try another orientation, but it will likely do interesting things to the finish and could increase post processing time.

Re: 3D Printed 5600 NATO Adapters- Work In Progress
Added 2 little wedges to the design to try to shore up the arms. This is rev. 1.5

Here is the plate I am currently printing they are all rev. 1.5. A set of upright adapters and 2 with different print angles.
