Lake House Leathers order is testing my patience

Post by TheJohnP »

Back on 2/1, KidThunder posted about Lake House Leathers going out of business and offering a 50% discount on everything.

http://manontime.com/viewtopic.php?p=7456#p7456

Ordered a couple of straps and have been waiting ever since.

Matt from LHL has been fairly up front and communicative that he was overwhelmed by the amount of transactions he received and would take some time to fulfill all the orders.

My main point of contention is that on Monday, I got a tracking number that my package has "shipped." Cut to this morning, when checking tracking status and see that USPS has yet to receive the package. Been three days since they printed up the shipping label. UGH.

Very frustrated.
I know this will be my only order with them, but c'mon!

I share your frustration, brother. I placed an order for three straps on Feb 2, and am still waiting as of March 2. I did get a shipping notice a week ago, but it was the dreaded "shipping label created" notice, and the items still haven't been received by USPS.

I realize beggars can't be choosers, especially in a going out of business situation, but this is a little silly.

Hope you get your order soon, and that they were worth the wait.

I too have an order with him. Same story. Got the tracking number but it says USPS is awaiting the item. HOWEVER....the last email I got from Matt explained that he dumped so many order shipments on his post office at the same time, that many (if not all) of them are showing up incorrectly on the USPS website. He indicated the order may show up before the status is ever updated. We shall see.

After 32 days and counting, unless they're coming by Conestoga wagon, that story is smelling fishy ;)

As luck would have it, I checked tracking yesterday and surprisingly saw some scans along the way finally show up.
SUPPOSED to be arriving today, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Not holding my breath.

And they arrived.

Not overly impressed, but not disappointed either.
They're OK

The good:
* They feel wonderful.
* Nice thickness
* They included a card holder.

The bad:
* Yes, delivery turnaround. Around 5 weeks.
* The burgundy strap is VERY subtle and more brown than red (can you tell the difference to which is burgundy and which is natural?)
* The 20mm strap is more 21mm than 20mm
* The springbar holes seem pretty non-existent
* They forgot to include the leather balm I ordered.
* Not sure how the stitching on the back of the keeper is going to hold up.

Had a couple of watches in mind for these, but don't think they will work out now that I have these in hand. But I'm sure I'll find another one they'll compliment.

As this will be my only order with them, que sera, sera.

Hell, I don't even have tracking. I am close to filing a PayPal dispute.
Just my $0.02 USD as always.

Did you place a custom order?
I recall reading in the update emails those were taking a little longer.

I cited a desired length, yeah, but it was never confirmed as a custom order. I don't know what his standard lengths are.

He has until Monday.

Received my order today. Never got a confirmation from the postal service. It just appeared in my mailbox.

Nice leather strap. A little wide for a 22 but still fits.

Same experience here…finally received my order on Monday (Mar 11th--originally ordered Feb 2). As others have said, they’re “OK,” not the best workmanship but usable. My two veg-tanned straps are also slightly wide. I’ve oiled them up (using coconut oil as their site recommends), we’ll see how they last.

The wait is over, but I always hate to see small businesses in the watch community go under, whatever the reason. But after this recent surge, Matt is probably relieved!
