SUCCESSFUL : Kickstarter: Watchmake Factory - Your First Watchmaking Experience

Post by TheJohnP »

This one is for the modders or those who have always had interest in modding.

Watchmake Factory out of Hong Kong has launched a campaign for a kit to let everyone experience the beauty of watchmaking - even without any watchmaking knowledge. All parts and tools required are included, in one box. Their custom-made interactive tutorial video helps you build your first watch - all by yourself.

Early Bird pricing is $215
Regular price will be about $537.50

Quite a cool idea and I'm surprised nobody has done it before (have they?). Yeah ok, probably not the best materials, but still. One thing I do find bizarre, however, is the lack of a solid dial. Seems like a no-brainer to include one/some given skeleton dials can be divisive.

Not sure why they didn't include solid dials. Seems at least one option would've made sense.

Essingler has a similar kit for about $200, just not as customizable.
