Post by TheJohnP »

**UPDATE 8/1** See further in thread for preorders that have opened for new colorways.

I came across this one in The League of Microbrands group on Facebook and was immediately smitten.
The price makes me sad, but still happy to see something like this exist in the world.

Möels & Co will be launching their first Kickstarter on Monday, March 28th for their first release, the Möels & Co 528.

The Kickstarter is LIVE!

Learn more about the watch and company here - https://www.getmoels528.com/

Early Bird pricing will be £745 (roughly $975)
Regular pricing will be £963 (roughly $1,260)

Estimated delivery is May 2022

We believe that many watch lovers -like us- are seeking relief from the constant flow of look-alikes designs being introduced into the market every month. Too many are trying to mimic or literally copy iconic watches from well established brands, and those who seek novelty are increasingly frustrated. In 2019, we decided to change that and created a watch brand that challenges the ordinary. After 2 years of hard work, today, we are excited to introduce and share with you our first creation, Möels & Co 528.

I really like these. I wish they had gone with a Miyota or even to make it more affordable.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Any thoughts on how this would work on a female wrist? Considering for a special lady, but worried it's too bulky even with the horizontal orientation.

From their campaign description:

GENDER EQUALITY
For us good design has no gender. We are a gender-inclusive brand, we do not split our designs into men’s and women’s, our designs are unisex, meant for him, for her and for those who do not identify as being of a particular gender. We do not use gender-specific wordings to name our timepieces either, we use numbers instead. Even if some terms are used in the male form, they apply to men, women and diverse in the same way.

These pics seem to on a woman's wrist.

Ha.
True.

Tim from Caseback Watches made the observation that the majority of the company pics show the watch on the right wrist instead of the left.
Could be very pokey crown.

You may not like this answer, but that will depend entirely on the person attached to the wrist. I think it would fit well for a woman who is willing to wear something with visual heft. The colors and design are a little bolder than most accessories aimed at women, and the non-traditional case shape adds to the boldness. It's not terribly thick at 11mm, unless she's only used to very slim quartz watches. The nice thing is the shape - 33mm lug to lug should fit across most wrists without overhang, even if the width makes it wear larger.

*Edit: I thought of one more thing. Strap width often wildly changes the feel of a watch for me. 22mm straps feel thicker and bulkier on my 6.25" wrist. I wonder how this would look on milanese mesh? Or a thin cork strap? That might lighten it up, if that's more her style.

Thank you for your thoughtfulness Sussa. Stylewise I think this would be a hit. Artsy, mid-century modern is right up per alley. She is rather petite which is why I'm concerned about the dimensions. The price is just on the border of what I'm comfortable gambling with. I'll ponder it some more...but not too long.

To me this shot looks like the watch wears way too big for most women I know to be comfortable wearing. Of course there may be exceptions.
