I bet I've sold over $100k worth of watches on eBay including a $17k Lange. Watches over $2000 are sent to an independent "expert" for verification. It isn't someone at eBay doing the verification.
You can always stick with the major sellers if you are concerned about fakes. eBay is probably safer than TheRealReal from what I've heard goes on there.
