Lucky Brand has all their watches on sale for $50. I have no personal experience, this seems to be a fashion brand aligned with their own clothing line (jeans, shoes etc.), but they have some interesting vintage designs with Japanese quartz movements. I just picked up the example below, a Fairfax Racing Blue chronograph, $185 list. Other styles and colorways available. No additional discounts found. I’ll drop a quick deal review after I receive it.

TJ Maxx has several Lucky watches, some of them are hitting clearance in store. So check them out, too. I've seen the model you bought. They started at $49.99, but have started moving to clearance locally.

After seeing and getting some good Gshock, Timex, and Citizen deals in store, I frequently check their jewelry counters. Definetly YMMV, though.

Goes for well over $2000 the few other places it is available. Most people and resources online think this movement is based on the Valjoux 7750. I think that's probably incorrect and it looks like a few others agree. Judging by the specs Ball has on their site, it sounds like it is probably a modular chronograph movement. My best guess from what I found is a ETA 2892 with a Dubois Dépraz DD4500. It would be nice if Ball just made it clear.

May be a manufacture base calibre, with a (DD, LJP) module.

Most modular chronographs have date with a hand, or don't show date. Date is in the base movement, so this Ball solve it "the easy way" with a cyclops in the dial. I don't like it, seems sloppy.

Modular chronographs also have the pushers above the crown, while the integrated ones, such as the Valjoux, have it in line.
