Have you seen CWard’s gimmicky change to their warranty where to honor the 5 year warranty you have to pay them for service in “3-4 years”? Don’t even have the professionalism to give you the time you have to do it. So if you don’t do it by 3, they can tell you to buzz off on a warranty claim. Just stupid, stupid, stupid.
I own 3 CWL watches, but I seriously doubt I’ll be buying any more.
Offtopic.
That's not exactly what they say.
Not all mechanical issues are considered faults. We recommend regular watch Servicing at 3-4 year intervals to keep your watch in good working order: Book a service or repair

They don't say that your failure to get a service in year 3 voids the warranty. They say they "recommend" watch servicing, and that "not all mechanical issues are considered faults." Sure, they can make the argument that the "fault" may have been created by the lack of a service, so that gives them an out, but if your crown breaks, or a jewel falls out, they won't be able to say with a straight face that it has anything to do with servicing (or not).
Still a little sneaky (particularly because they're probably getting lots of watches on warranty work right now right at the 5 year mark, and lots of them may be gummed up and dirty), and potentially problematic down the line, but not worth not doing business with them over. (Maybe they should just go to a 3 year warranty--it'd still be longer than the industry average but would be short enough to avoid any service issues.)
