As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

S229, why so cheap?
I used to like this model until I see real life pictures of the watch, not studio shots. Not bad but nothing special either. But that's subjective. At this price, it's a good deal. So if the Italian movement dies, I guess a NH35 can be dropped in.

IF you like big pre-owned watches CWS has 2 Alpina Alpiners for sale at $385 not including tax on Ebay. It's the 44mm version which is a great looking watch but it was too damn long for me

Is this Ecozilla on Amazon a deal?

Image

Should I even try? I can pull off an Inox Diver and the Bulova moon watch, but this may be just a tad too big?

I’ve never understood the design aesthetic for that watch. Who needs such a big bezel on such a (relatively) small dial?

1. Yes it looks like from a quick search of the forum $199 is a good deal.

2. You've come to the wrong place if you want someone to tell you not to buy a watch. Buy it!
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Do it? It will be fine. I've owned this watch at least three times. The adapters on eBay make all the difference. I opted for both the aftermarket lugs and this Nato ring adapter. It it great. I don't have to use 24mm Nato's unless I want to. It looks just fine on a 22mm Nato. If you opt for the ring by itself, it's like $20.

Bad QC and poor customer service? The first versions of these models had swiss movements, I believe these at this price are seiko movements. Still a nice looking watch for the money

but they kept the plastic movement holder at least!

I also owned this watch. Its not crazy big for my normal wrist, provided its tool look. Its very thick though. Its a great beach watch. I nearly sold it a few times, yet i keep due to sort of unique look and style. $199 is a fair deal i would say, just wait if the coupon code was expired, it drops to around $200 from time to time, tough not much lower. I got at $250 a few years ago. Fyr. Happy hunting.
