If say 38mm and under. I think the Seiko is like 43-44.

You might also consider going vintage. A quartz watch from the 90s or even early 2000s would still be reliable and a few mm smaller. Here's a pretty sweet Timex:

I wish that watch were 38mm?

Dub Rubb wrote: Thu May 28, 2020 8:04 pm I know it's been a while friends, but I need help again from the best of the best. My wife wants a watch that looks like this but smaller. Basically black case/ability to change the strap to that olive drab/field watch vibe with lumed numerals.

She basically told me to shrink that watch down. I know that's not an option lol, so I am looking for you to help. Quartz or auto, let's try to keep the price reasonable. I might stretch to $500 or so for the absolute perfect watch, but I feel like something exists for half that.

Thanks for the help fellow MoTers, I probably already owe you one, but put this on my tab.

There is the 38mm LUM-TEC C7 automatic HERE but it ain't cheap at $645 full retail. I'm not currently seeing it discounted.

Image

There's a guy named Alexander James that is essentially a modder with a website. He has a 39mm auto for $175 HERE or a 38mm quartz for $120 HERE. Not sure if he has discounts. You might be able to ask to just buy a case to mod something yourself.

Let me know if she would consider broadening the search to 40mm, or a full set of numerals, or a non-plated case. If so I'll add more suggestions. Also, consider just buying a 40mm Sinn 856 to share.

Just slightly cheaper from CGA Watches (who produce Minuteman).
Price is $509.55 with their automatic discount.

I believe I've read Billy charges tax, wherever you're based.
So might be even more overall savings through CGA.

I vote for the Lum-Tec, but I wanted to add some bargain options from Casio:

(too big?) 42mm, $27 from Casio:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Casio-Mens-Qua ... 3481678063

Image

(too small?) 33mm x 12mm LRW200H, $24 from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Casio-Womens-LRW ... B00791QYJE

Or $20.50 from Walmart:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Casio-Women- ... ected=true

35mm including crown per this unboxing video:

Smiths PRS-25 could maybe work? 36mm, great vintage explorer homage.
Currently out of stock but I assume they'll restock at some point.

Google ads started throwing these 40nine watches at me. Women's: 35mm. Judging by Poshmark photos, the hands are polished, and $65 doesn't seem like a deal for the overall quality.

New, $65:

Here's one on Mercari for $18, "Like new". They can't decide whether it's women's or men's (40nine sells the same watch in 43mm for guys). Judging by the proportions of the hands, I think it's the larger men's.

What about the Citizen BM8180? It does it have the 12-3-6-9 layout, but ticks a lot of the other boxes. I really like mine. They are currently in a price spike on Amazon, but are usually under $100.

Edit: Right, it isn’t black.

How about the Boldr Venture.

You would need to go used, but I have one if it is of interest. I just have too many A-17s and this one doesn’t get worn. The long lugs lock you into pass through straps, but other than that it is a solid watch.

No day date though.
