We have seen some great mods.

Alright. I have 2 in the works currently. Some parts might not get here in time, but I can temporarily cobble some together for the sake of competition. Effing Polish postal system is just as bad as Russian.

Those won't qualify. Mod must have been completed in 2019, but if you have any you haven't submitted there's still time.

I think I got most of mine in, I just don’t have time to do them all. At any rate, it looks like I am behind, but I know what my favorite is. Good luck and don’t forget to like the watches you think are great. I know I am going to go back through the thread.

Wow, while I am both flattered and honored, I know deep down that this is the real winner here. The mix of effort, passion and community involvement really set this apart from all the others. I'll take a couple pics with the trophy, but it is going on Sporkboy's mantle.

That is until next year. . .

2019 Watch Mod of the Year

Post by Sporkboy »

Thank you everyone for participating and voting. It is definitely an honor to be recognized for modding efforts. I am surprised about the second place watch but I think that the hands and advancement in my black dial production had a lot to do with it. That this was a $10 base watch that I could turn into something special should be noted. The barrier to entry on watch modding is very low. You don’t need an SKC or even an Invicta 8926 to get started.

I am with Dub Rubb on the MoT green lume watch. It has two big modding advancements that I really need to document in the How To section. It was a group effort and I love how it evolved into what it is today. I do need to redo the dial and source an appropriate handset to relume and finish the watch.

This was a great highlight for the modders that we have here and I hope that it is an inspiration to everyone that has been on the fence about taking a crack at making a watch uniquely yours. I hope that in 2020 we can welcome more MoT members into the modding obsession.

This reminds me that it is Mod Monday. I will need to dig out something fun.
