The whole thing is stunning, but that case really sets it apart. And in perfect condition too! Do you know the manufacture year?
Show Off Your New Watch
Re: Show Off Your New Watch
The serial on the movement dates it to 1917. If someone handed it to me and said "Here's a brand new pocket watch." I'd believe them.

Far and wide I will find 'em and I ride 'em
Bricks and mortar get my licks just for kicks
AD or authorized I don't analyze
Retail, wholesale never fail
Online or offline, I find I don't redefine
Too big to fail or yard sale they all hale
Run or hide just for fun deals I find

I haven't timed it explicitly, but it thumps around at 18k as it should and within a couple of seconds after a few hours.

Re: Show Off Your New Watch
Some phenomenal acquisitions here recently, y'all!
This showed up today. 1960's Ball Trainmaster Railroad Approved watch. This is from the era where Ball was still making actual watches certified for railroad employees.
It seems to be in great shape, but was really cruddy- dried wrist cheese all over the back, in the cracks and crevices. I took the movement/dial out and ran the case, caseback, and crown/stem through the ultrasonic cleaner about 4 times and it came out looking like new. The crystal is pretty scratched up as the pictures show, so I ordered a new one (and a new case back gasket) from Esslinger and should have it reassembled by Wednesday or Thursday.
I was so excited to open it up and make sure the movement was good (I bought it based on only one picture) that I forgot to actually put it on at all before I disassembled it, lol.
This is also one I am actually considering keeping on this expansion bracelet. I think the combo looks pretty good.

Re: Show Off Your New Watch
Not a new watch, but a new watch box. Hope that's ok.

You guys are killin' me. I don't need this. Yet, here it is.
Just my $0.02 USD as always.

Guilty pleasure alert! [emoji599]
A year or two ago I discovered that Elgin had released a 39mm quartz homage of the Rolex 1655 in the Japanese market sometime around 2000. I have wanted one ever since. So when I saw one being auctioned on Yahoo! Japan recently, I decided to sign up for Buyee and make it mine. This thing is not in great shape (most notably the scratched up mineral crystal), but I feel like that just adds to the charm with a 1655 homage. I even like the signed clasp that still says "Elgin USA" with an eagle design on the safety bar, even though Elgin was owned by Citizen when this was released. And this movement, although quartz, functions like a “true GMT” where you can advance the hour hand by itself while the seconds hand continues to run. Dig it!!

Just came in, they're dirty but all seem to run. Gonna put a battery in the Bulova and hope it works, then going to get it serviced. Really stoked about the Waltham too. I think that'll clean up really nicely.
