Casioak is an option although I had something digital in mind. I'm in no rush but I may look to pick up a cheap 5700 to see how it fits. Or maybe I'll opt for something bigger afterall......and loud and flashy.
Resin G-Shocks feel smaller on wrist due to their weight than their size might indicate. Also might have something to do with how the bands connect to the watch. For instance, on my GD-350, there are a couple of wings underneath than ease the transition of the big watch body over the edges of the wrist.

The two things that size matters on is wearing one under a long sleeve shirt or jacket, and just general looks. I feel like you kind of get a bit of a pass on the looks thing because G-Shock. The shirt thing is a legit concern in winter.

Just for reference on your flirtation with the 5700. Here is the bezel compatibility chart showing which bezels will work on which base model watch/module. You could theoretically buy a $5 5700 bezel replacement for your DW-5600 and have what appears to be a DW-5700. Or I could take my GWX-5700 round bezel and put it on my GW-B5600, etc.

I post that to not tell you just to buy a bezel, just to tell you that if you like the 5700 shape, don't worry about its size. If you like your 5600, I don't know why you wouldn't like the size of the 5700. Heaven forbid me to advise someone not to buy another G-Shock :)

Surfboard style. This one has been much like a love hate relationship, just wonderful in this photo but hate the poor legibility at certain angles. Almost got rid of it a few times, though I have since come to terms with it, keeper. Tide graph, moonphase, radio reception (when it works), solar, flick of the wrist to illuminate dial - much there to like.

That's the same module as my GWX-5700CS. I'm with you on the negative displays, though. I wear that 5700 more than stuff like my DW-5600BB due to the positive display.

I wanted that one bad when it was on for $60 or whatever it was last year, but the negative display kept me away.

That's when I got it. My first G-Shock at least in recent times. I could stare at it all day the way it looks on that pic. I've gotten used to flicking the wrist to the appropriate angle for legibility.

I have a gold metal negative display still in the box debating whether to keep it. It's an improved display.

The MIP LCD tech Casio is using in some G-Shock should help with legibility. Hopefully.

The ProTrek I posted in the first post has a fairly readable negative display.

A little embarrassed to say I had absolutely no idea about auto-light or that my full metal square has it. This also just prompted me to figure out how to change the backlight to 4 seconds rather than 2. Luckily my happiness about this far exceeds my embarrassment. :D Thanks!

Every day I learn something new is a good day. You'll like it, it's great. One of the first things I did, also adjusted illumination to 4 sec.

Still more. Sorry for the double post of the PRG-80L-2 The Blue Pro Trek, for those who don't know, was a non US release therefore it is a Pro Trek and not a Pathfinder.
