Resin G-Shocks feel smaller on wrist due to their weight than their size might indicate. Also might have something to do with how the bands connect to the watch. The two things that size matters on is wearing one under a long sleeve shirt or jacket, and just general looks. I feel like you kind of get a bit of a pass on the looks thing because G-Shock. The shirt thing is a legit concern in winter.
Just for reference on your flirtation with the 5700. Here is the bezel compatibility chart showing which bezels will work on which base model watch/module. You could theoretically buy a $5 5700 bezel replacement for your DW-5600 and have what appears to be a DW-5700. Or I could take my GWX-5700 round bezel and put it on my GW-B5600, etc.
