Call for thoughts on this Field Watch
As a result of the latest challenge, every waking hour of my day (not quite) is spent looking for mechanical Field Watches. One of my searches brought me across this interesting little beauty. To me, it seems to be nice with a unique design and what I would say is a very good price for the spec. However, I may be wrong (I am often), and would like to hear comments from the collective.
If they'd do a stainless with green dial I'd have pulled the trigger already!

Re: Call for thoughts on this Field Watch
My only nitpick is a field watch with a movement that doesn't hack.
I know watchpalooza has a Kingsbury diver and seemed impressed, if I recall correctly.

And might not hurt to email them to see if they could swap in a green dial into a stainless case for you.

Seems like a fair price.
I like the syringe hands.
Perhaps if it was a 42 they'd have been able to keep the subdial away from the 6.

Just my $0.02 USD as always.

The only thing that jumps out at me is how much the crown sticks out from the case. Maybe it's the angle of the render, but it looks like it could easily get snagged. But, if your fingers, like mine, have trouble grabbing most crowns it could be a feature and not a bug. The syringe hands are nice. Good specs for the price.

This was exactly my concern as it isn't a screw-down. The shape almost guarantees it will snag, especially at edges of a jean pocket.Sussa wrote: ↑Fri May 15, 2020 7:17 pm The only thing that jumps out at me is how much the crown sticks out from the case. Also I personally think the 8xxx movements are kind of inferior by today's standards. I'm surprised that brands would choose that when wholesale prices of NH35's are very low.

Very impressed with Kingsbury as a value brand. My only gripes on the dive watch I own are that the date window alignment makes the tens digit hard to read for double-digit dates and the lume dot inside of triangle at top of bezel is a bit awkward. This one has neither a date nor bezel, so should be great. The build quality is excellent and the company very responsive. I would suggest that it will likely go on discount at some point for sub-$150, so you may want to wait if no hurry.
Re: Call for thoughts on this Field Watch
All of this is personal preference, so take it with a grain of salt.
At 41mm, it would be a tad larger than I like in a field watch, but that is a personal preference. The chapter ring may help it wear a little smaller than if it had been all dial.
The chapter ring doesn’t seem necessary to me and adds a splash of color that seems to distract from the overall design.
I would have liked the small seconds hand to be white, but it is luminous- black lume is cool. I like my hour hand to be a little thicker than the minutes hand.
I do like the traditional layout with the small seconds hand. Everything is lumed, which is is cool. However, it might be a tad busy on the lume side, which would reduce readability.
Once again, all of this is personal preference. Overall, it isn’t bad, it just isn’t for me.
