Yema Superman French Air Force 39mm Quartz Takes A Bath

Post by MoT »

After reading some unsavory reviews and rumors about Yema's quality control, particularly when it comes to water resistance, I decided to do my own test.

Superman French Airforce quartz in 39mm takes a half-hour bath.

Pleased to report no water intrusion that I could detect. No droplets inside the crystal, and no fogging.

Félicitations Yema!

Good, but that's hardly a test for a watch rated 660ft. A spit test would have worked just fine. [emoji3]

Pressurize in the Instant Pot?

That may be something I'm willing to do with a less expensive watch.

That would be a fascinating experiment. As ManOnTime said though, only with an inexpensive piece.

So according to the Instant Pot website, the max pressure it cooks at is 15.23 psi: https://instantpot.com/which-electric-p ... 20(105kpa).

But that's like less than 1m of water depth based on what I'm seeing. Am I mixing up something?
I wish that watch were 38mm?

A little- 1 psi = about 1.4 meters wc. So this is about 21 meters of water resistance. Still not much lol.

In that case you should be able to cook a 50m timex in an instant pot no problem.

You have the figures mixed up, 1 meter of sea water exerts aprox. 1.4 psi, so 15.23 psi is about 10.5 meters depth.

It's the heat that may create a problem in the Instant Pot test, if not right away, long term.

By the way, the Yema jar test, giving it a generous 3 inch depth, exerted a tremendous 1.7 ounces per square inch. Good for a light shower, keep it out of puddles.
