As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

Was this the worst placement of a date ever? From a 1959 ad for Doxa watches. And they brag about it!

Actually, I think the best line is the "chronometer-like accuracy.” What the heck does that mean? Sounds like some salesman talk to me.The Sultan of SoWhat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 10:43 pm Was this the worst placement of a date ever? From a 1959 ad for Doxa watches. Oddly enough, I don't hate it.The Sultan of SoWhat wrote: ↑Sun Oct 03, 2021 10:43 pm Was this the worst placement of a date ever? From a 1959 ad for Doxa watches. And they brag about it!Screen Shot 2021-10-03 at 11.36.18 PM.pngScreen Shot 2021-10-03 at 11.36.36 PM.png
The date window is balanced by the branding.
This is a well thought through design, and not an afterthought like most date windows seem to be now.
I also cut more slack to date wheels on vintage watches, since no one had a device with access to all known knowledge on them.
My point of contention is that they claim the date is AT the 11, when it is clearly BY the 11. Otherwise, the window would've been cut by the line. Though that might've looked cool.
