Incoming! What have you got in the mail?

Post by Sporkboy »

OK, last purchase for a while. Just won an eBay auction for $26.18. It includes a Lorus VX33-X066, which alone sells for at least that. The only $26 one I see in the sold history has a broken crystal. Anyway, I love mine and this one is for my brother. A Lorus Lumibrite Ana-digital and some sort of Timex weekender round out the lot.

Edit: I am also waiting for some Raketa 2609-HA movements so that I can get the correct movement in my big zero. These were ordered prior to the eBay listing above.

Aside from a ~$40 8926 for modding if that lands on black Friday, I do not foresee additional purchases. I am avoiding the deals thread.

I am so weak. What am I supposed to do when people keep using inaccurate descriptions in their postings? I deleted the eBay app from my phone.

Anyway, two Vostoks in need of movement servicing are on their way. Described as Komandirskes, one of them appears to be an Amphibia. Neither of these shows a lot of wear, which is pretty common on well loved Vostoks. Not sure of the age of these, but the dials look older than the current ones. Research needs to be done.

At any rate $20.50 and these are on their way to me.

Same. I've got an itch and even a little cash but am trying to wait till black Friday. Also I seem to have gotten really selective this month. I see a bunch of options but think nah, it's not worth it. Maybe the true light of WPAC is finally penetrating my HUISABH-armored skull.

Was saving to take advantage of Black Friday deals, but found a deal on this instead... Now I can finally be compliant for LWDS double-crown days.

I'm still holding out for Black Friday! Nothing I really have my eye on, which makes it extra dangerous, so we'll see what the day brings lol.

Got one of these straps coming from strapsco. At $20 I'm not setting the bar super high, but we shall see...

Like many others here, I'm mostly saving myself for BF.

Sort of a second time incoming for this one. About a month ago I got a Glycine Airman GL0227. But as you could tell from the picture the gmt/hour have was misaligned. Apparently a common occurrence in many of the airman models. So I sent it off to be repaired at their center in Arizona. According to USPS shipping it should arrive back today!

Well I'm a joke. I've got a watch incoming. It was a really good deal on one I've had in the back of my mind for a while, the Seiko SPB087, PADI "MM200". I owned a SBDC063, the black dial/blue bezel version of this watch, and really liked it. I sold it mainly for two reasons: I didn't like the bezel action, and the stock bracelet just wasn't my favorite. The videos I've watched on this watch show a bezel with a slightly better action (we'll see when it comes), and Strapcode now carries almost a full lineup of bracelets to fit this watch, so I will probably be ordering a Jubilee for it almost as soon as it comes. Thanks for the picture Hodinkee.

This one is finally in the mail. The Ianos Avyssos that I backed on KS back in the winter is in transit and is currently in NYC. I should have it on Monday or Tuesday.Image

Revue Thommen Bronze-Coated Diver XL. Less than 50 beans from Gemnation. Will it ship? Who knows?! Regardless, thanks to BillionaireDoors for the heads up. I don't even like mercedes hands but I'm super excited anyway. It doesn't really matter but I'm curious to see if the strap is any good. Also, I'm happy that I remembered to hit the cash back button.

Just in case the RT deal above isn't fuh rillz, I'm preemptively assuaging my disappointment with two pre-owned but barely used watches for work. Both are Timex digital watches. The first is an Ironman Transit from ebay. Reference TW5M19000. $18 after tax. 40mm which I'm happy about. Looking forward to trying out their negative display, especially after my Rugged purchase never panned out. Hopefully the strap is reasonably comfortable. These Transits have mixed reviews but for the price I think I'll like it. The second is another Ironman Endure Shock. Model T5K429. I already have a T5K195 and I'm a fan. These do not have mixed reviews. They are awesome and I'm surprised more G-Shock fans don't buy these. The one exception might be that the straps can fail well before the rest of the watch. This one was $24 from a seller on Mercari. I'm new to the site. I signed up today just to buy this watch.

I'm pretty excited about the Martu straps; everyone speaks so highly of them. Here's what I have coming...

Last watch I posted here never shipped so I felt like a dope. So here I am posting a just-arrived-in-the-mail watch. It's a Pulsar PF3293 eBay deal I posted but didn't buy until I had an eBay promo. (I bought mine from Loot Hive.) By my reckoning, it ended up about $45, net. It was such a deal that I was skeptical and figured there must be something wrong with it. I'm happy to report that it's better than I expected.

I have a dressier 7T62 Seiko, but it is harder to read w/ narrow hands and silver subdial hands. This Pulsar is 41mm, which fits perfectly on my 6.75" wrist. Its subdials are smaller, but their white hands are more legible. Its lume isn't Seiko brilliant, but (so far) it is functional (will test further). Its bezel feels good to turn, although it lacks a 30 (?). I can see why some reviewers complained about it being too small. With the wide bezel it wears smaller, but my wrist is small, so it works for me. The case finishing is better than I expected. I like how the silver chrono hand seems to disappear vs. the white Seiko chrono hand which always seems to be in the way. Its white triangle tip allows me to still read it, though.
