As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.

I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

These were officially issued railway watches in Japan in the 1960s through the mid-1970s, and not sold to the public. They use the Citizen 0911 movement, which was the base for the 0920 movement used in Citizen's Chrono Master line which itself was equivalent to Seiko's King Seiko and Grand Seiko of the era.

21 jewels, hand-wound and runs at 18,000vbh. It hacks (Second Setting), which would have been essential for a railroad timekeeping tool.

The case backs were all engraved with issue information; Railroad, serial number, etc. I'll need to find someone that can read Japanese to translate it for me.

Same movement, different watch:

Using Google Translate I think I got it.

Issued in 1975, 574th watch issued.

Intereting watch!

"North South Rail"

I don't speak Japanese but I am pretty sure the meaning of those characters is the same in Chinese (Japanese and Chinese share many characters, and they usually have the same meaning).

In Chinese, you add the word "road" to the the word "iron" you get "railway" in any context, and within this context, "iron" alone is enough to convey "railway". :) I digress. This is one of the reasons I love this forum - folks discovering cool watches!!!!

Was talking about that on Discord this morning. His price is quite ambitious. I paid roughly 1/3 that.

Seiko 5 SNKK52 Gold Seikonaut on the way. A pretty good price on Amazon. I'm thinking about maybe swapping a blue dial in to one of these. I also think I can might be able to wear it for 2-3 years and then get more than I just paid for it.

Or who knows, after a few years.....I may just decide to....

Oh wow. I don't know the details but he seems to be a popular seller and he produces nice photos.

I miss Discord!

Been on a 7Ax8 hunt lately and found out Citizen has their own versions - suffice to say I bite the "dad" watch bullet and this caliber 3560 with 2/100th sec sub-dial is on the way from Germany:

Another day, another Seiko 5. SNZH61 this time. $67.50 on Poshmark. Looks like there might be a few scratches but good condition overall.

What's your experience with Poshmark? I have contemplated it, but never purchased anything from them. Are purchases guaranteed?

I have zero experience with Poshmark. I just signed up. Signing up was very easy though. I used a referral code to save $10. I paid with PayPal. You might already be aware.....Poshmark is an online marketplace as opposed to a seller. The particular vendor I bought from is a very reputable seller with it's own site and ebay store so I felt confident making the purchase. We'll see....🤞
