So, I've got two watches coming in the mail. First purchase was yesterday: Junghans Max Bill Anthracite dial.

Image

Second is an impulse buy thanks to TheJohnP's Nordstrom rack sale in HUISABH.

Timex Ironman Triathlon 8 Lap. Looks like a ‘94 model, which is closer to what I had originally than the 2000 model that I currently own. Needs cleaning up, but looks to be in good condition. ~$20 on eBay.

Been waiting for a while for these to come back in stock, and once they did I waited patiently for them to join the weekly sales list, and when they did that I waited for a % off code, and when I had that I bought. Been quite an exercise in patience lol. Super excited to get this, been wanting one for quite a while. Supposed to arrive today!

Did you go with 36mm or 43mm? I’m excited to see some pics when it arrives. As TheJohnP stated, this has been on my list for a while but I’ve never pulled the trigger. You might tip me over the edge!

Seiko 5 SNXS75 from Jomashop. It was one of those that said "Ships in 1-3 days" as opposed to "In stock" and it did actually ship in that timeframe. It shows as originating in Los Angeles rather than most of my Jomashop orders that have shipped from New York. Due to work and travel I probably won't actually see this one for a while.

Absolutely the 36mm, which I just measured is actually 37.3 across. It wears like a dream. Pics to come.

Snagged a pair of transparent Buler watches from the 70’s for $14 each. These look fun.

Those cases are really clear for their age.
That band isn't even all that discolored.
Great pick up!

Taking a chance for $9 on a Timex 50 Data Link as they fit the quirky description and one of the ideas I had for the quirky challenge. A space watch and early ‘smart’ watch programable by flashes of light. Hopefully it functions.

Very cool. The first watch capable of downloading information from a computer, and first to carry the Microsoft logo. Was introduced by Microsoft as a wearable alternative to mainstream PDAs. The 50 was the first, so named because it could carry 50 phone numbers worth of data. From the Wiki page:
“The watch was demonstrated by Bill Gates on 21 June 1994 in a presentation where he downloaded information from a computer monitor using bars of light and then showed to the audience the downloaded appointments and other data...The watches have been certified by NASA for space travel and have been used by astronauts and cosmonauts in space missions. There had been an evolution over the years as to the number and type of entries that can be stored in the various watch models as well as the mode of data transfer between computer and watch. At the time of its introduction the watch was considered high-tech.”
Really fun watch, and who knows....maybe you’ll find Bill Gates’ number in it. :D

I hope this is the right place to share an update on the Speedmaster that I ordered Thursday night, even though it is no longer "incoming." whoagorgeous posted a smoking deal on a speedy at DavidSW that included a $500 off coupon (thank you!). I passed on a similar watch in Nashville almost three years ago, and since that time I have had in my mind what my "act now" price has been, although I was hoping that would be fairly local.

This deal was so far below that price that I told my wife that we needed to talk, and five seconds later she said, "do it."

The watch arrived today. It looked great but the chronograph did not function correctly. The top pusher started the chrono on the first depression, but the second depression reset the chrono hand instead of stopping it. I sent an email to DavidSW and within about thirty minutes David himself called me (on a Saturday, no less). He was very apologetic and said the watch passed their tests and he offered me two options. I could return the watch for a full refund or they would fix it. I think am going to take him up on the offer to fix the problem. He explained that because of the COVID crisis it would be a few weeks before the watch could be serviced, so he offered to refund my money and then sell the watch back to me.

Does this send up any red flags to anyone? Assuming that I trust the repair, I am still far enough ahead that I can pay for a full service in the future and be around what I was considering my "act now" price.
