As you may have noticed, we we're offline this morning. This was caused by the "Thanks" plug-in going rogue and using up way too many server resources. This triggered an automatic suspension by our hosting provider as they thought it was a malicious attack. The "Thanks" plug-in has been disabled, hopefully temporarily so I can determine if that was indeed the cause, and take steps to prevent it from happening in the future.
I apologize for the disruption and for any confusion that may have caused.

I finally caved and bought the same Lorus as BostonCharlie. Have wanted it for awhile, and made an offer on one from a seller here in Germany that was accepted. Not as good a price as BC’s, but still in deal territory.

I had a Seiko "Railroad Approved" version for a while that had a Lumibrite dial. The thing was a blow torch at night. I regret selling it.

Cool! Full disclosure though: as much as I've circled around this model, I don't own it (yet). Look forward to seeing photos upon its arrival.FTE wrote: ↑Mon Apr 29, 2019 3:30 pm I finally caved and bought the same Lorus as @BostonCharlie. To anyone on the fence, just do it. Just make sure you get the screw down case back version. BostonCharlie wrote:Cool! OK, just to enable a little more I have some lume comparison shots. This is next to a Citizen that I can’t recall the ref. of. B-8108 or something silly like that. Anyway, fully charged lume here.

Re: Incoming! What have you got in the mail?
Just ordered my first Hamilton. Went with this 38mm Khaki Field automatic on bracelet (H70455133) which came to only $375 from Jomashop.
I’m been looking to get more sub-40mm watches in my collection and aside from its good looks, the specs on this thing are impressive for the price: sapphire, solid end links, 80-hour power reserve, exhibition case back, 10 bar rating... Excited to see it in person!

I'm posting this here because it's related to this discussion and, actually, it is "Temporarily out of stock". -- what kind of deal is that?FTE wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 8:57 am<drooling>Sporkboy wrote: ↑Wed May 01, 2019 5:54 am OK, just to enable a little more I have some lume comparison shots. Anyhow, Amazon.co.uk has a listing for this Lorus RXF41AX7 (can't tell what kind of back it has) that is 30 GBP incl. UK shipping or $40.50 USD incl. shipping to the US. I walked through the checkout process and this is Amazon's message:
Order now and we'll notify you via e-mail when we have an estimated delivery date for this item.
There are 3rd party sellers with inventory who ship within the UK for 38 GBP total. Maybe they'll ship to EU? The page tells me they don't ship to the US, anyhow, and I tried a couple just to check.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lorus-Analogue ... 0088HPSDG/
I'm tempted to place an order just to see if it ever get fulfilled.

Well it will take awhile due to reshipping from the states, but this is an unusual piece. Its an Ernest Borel wristwatch circa 1930’s with a Brevet sterling silver COVERED (folding / flip) case...37mm x 27mm. Picked it up for $80.

That is a beauty. I don’t know enough about vintage pieces to score anything like that, but coming from a family of antique dealers, I certainly appreciate it.FTE wrote:Well it will take awhile due to reshipping from the states, but this is an unusual piece. Re: Incoming! What have you got in the mail?
Instead of spending my Amazon gift card on an unknown and non-deal of a watch, I decided to spend a little more on something that I've wanted for a long time (Thanks for all the suggestions MoT'ers).
I've got a 34mm Max Bill in the mail. Should be at my office sometime tomorrow. Really excited as I've always wanted a Max Bill but never wanted to fork out the dough. Given the gift card and the reasonable price, I went for it. Only hesitation is the size, but I think I can swing it.

Cautiously optimistic on the condition, but had to jump on this deal.
And if there was more than one, you know I would've shared with everyone.

The square Seiko and the Rado make me feel things.
