OK, I took a close look there. I moved it up and did some changes so that the S is right after the 34' mark and the Y lines up nicely with 22. Look at the Y again in an earlier image- yikes.

Could “Spork Boy” be moved outside the chapter ring, where you would typically see “Swiss Made”?

Re: Post your mods here!
The are outside the chapter ring won’t be seen on the dial. Maybe I have done that wrong in the design. I could always remove Sporkboy altogether as it doesn’t add to the design. Just thought it would be fun to mock the likes of Phillip Pines.FTE wrote:Could “Spork Boy” be moved outside the chapter ring, where you would typically see “Swiss Made”?

Have SPORK fit in the area between the minute tracks between 30-35 and BOY between 27-29?
Wonder how that would look?

Hmmm, somewhere along the line the sporkboy text got increased in size, it is supposed to be a point smaller. It would be legible, but much smaller.
I tried sticking the text between the markers at one point and it looked awkward.

Re: Post your mods here!
Very minor mod that makes me happy. Removed the bright white lettering off this G-Lide 5700 that I bought on an MLTD deal for about $40. Many G-Shocks use gray lettering, and while it looks white compared to the black bezel, it's more subtle and blends better to my eyes.
So now I have an MB6 Solar positive display that's fairly blacked out to go with my negative display DW5600BB.
Might eventually paint the logo and text some other colors, but like it like it is for the moment.

Re: Post your mods here!
Tried adding a little contrast to the second hand on the watch I am building for my dad. Sadly my gorilla like painting skills caused a little bit of red paint to bleed into the lume plot. Oh well, his eyes are bad so I just hope he doesn't bust out the loupe!

Re: Post your mods here!
I think the inverted colors look great! I would like to see what it looks like with the slogan saying:Sporkboy wrote:OK, that was the motto that I had pitched and I still kind of like it. I can put anything on there though, that's not hard. Right now I'm sizing this to go onto the dial of a Invicta 8926, so we will see what happens. Now if the printer will start behaving again...
Inverting the colors makes this look dope.

Re: Post your mods here!
I doubt he'll even notice. If it bothers you though, it would probably also look great if you painted the whole seconds hand lume plot. This will look killer with the red bezel. Is it for an 8926?Dub Rubb wrote: ↑Fri May 10, 2019 8:29 pm Tried adding a little contrast to the second hand on the watch I am building for my dad. Re: Post your mods here!
You might be right about painting the whole lume plot as it would match up better with the minute markers. I think you are on to something here. I also think it's kinda cool to have the midsection of the seconds hand blacked out with the tail white and the marker red. I am gonna try it. If I hate it, I still have a month to sort a new seconds hand.yinzburgher wrote:I doubt he'll even notice. And yes, it is for an 8926OB. This one is for my dad, but I am also starting a 2nd 8926 build for my soon to be father in law. I just had the woman pick out the dial, hand set and bezel insert. Fun and personal gifts to give, especially to my dad who is a full on WIS.

It would also work well with the red Dagaz diamond.yinzburgher wrote:I doubt he'll even notice. Re: Post your mods here!
Alright, I went for it with painting the tip of second hand and think it turned out great. One thing went awry though. When using the little puffer to blow some dust off of the dial, I somehow blew one of the lume plots off of the hour hand and into an apparent black hole. Oh well, I think it still works out okay.
I also think I did a much better job of polishing the case where the logo was this time. Getting better with practice (and the right grit sandpaper!).

Re: Post your mods here!
A little before and after shot, and I am on to the next one. I think my dad is really gonna like it! I just had (Very!!!)soon to be Mrs. Dub Rubb pick out the dial hands and bezel insert for her dad's. It is different than the route I would have gone, but should be pretty cool nonetheless. I think I need one of those pro diver deals to come around again to keep me busy lol.

Re: Post your mods here!
Awesome job! Nice work on the case. I have one that I purchased to mod, or really just to play with and not be upset if I screw up. Can’t seem to find the time but certainly enjoy watching you!Dub Rubb wrote: ↑Sat May 11, 2019 4:28 pm Alright, I went for it with painting the tip of second hand and think it turned out great. Re: Post your mods here!
I got the $10 Nixon watches to do an MOT dial mod from watchgooroo pointed out by Boston Charlie. Props to watchgooroo for getting these to me 28 hours after ordering with free shipping.
Stainless case, screw down caseback, domed crystal,100m water resistance and fixed lugs. Not thrilled with the fixed lugs and the crown is funky, but it will be a good base. The hands may not be great for the planned dial, but we will see how it turns out.
Excited to see what this turns into.
