Thank you. It was something that I hadn’t seen done in the modding scene outside of filling in crown and bezel details with crayon. That is a technique that has been around a really long time and I use it on lots of my tools at work.ManOnTime wrote:That's really cool!Sporkboy wrote: ↑Wed Apr 10, 2019 2:51 pm
Two Timex casebacks. One I added a bit of enamel paint, squeegeed off the excess, let dry, did some clean up and hit it with some matte acrylic. The other one is stock for comparison.
Casebacks don’t get much attention, but given a little paint, they can really pop.
This also shows the underside of a Timex that I stripped down to the brass.
I know these aren’t you ordinary mods, but I have fun with them.
The Timex watch backs of this type really are kind of nice, so I thought I would see what I could do with a little paint. It took me a while to figure out that I needed to remove the paint while it was wet, like you were spreading ink to make a print, but I got there.
It also helps if you give the surface a good cleaning to remove and gunk from the engraving and then a wash of rubbing alcohol before applying the paint.
