Great post. Wish I could read German. My grandfather landed on the second wave of Omaha Beach. Amazing what that generation went through.

Re: The Traveling Komandirskie. Who wants it?
Sdelka is going to the world Pokemon Go Fest in Dortmund. It is one of 4 in the world each year. Along the way she will also party at Sommerfest in Buckum and see what other trouble she can get into.
Here she is on the train from Munich to Dortmund...
That’s a fisherman on a bunch of planks strapped to 4 barrels to make a boat: And yes, those are the golden arches in the distance.

Re: The Traveling Komandirskie. Who wants it?
Crap. Watchpalooza has really stepped up the game here. This does not bode well for me and my photography skills and limited venues. Should still be fun though.
I am thinking about placing an order to Meronom, and was wondering if a new crown or something else might be in order for our favorite mechanical traveler. Do we have a policy on picking up character via parts replacement? I was planning on painting the case back, which I assumed would be fine, but changing out parts may be out of line for this project.

The only thing that I notice is the bezel alignment with the date window. The bezel dots align perfectly with each of the dial lume dots, but the date cutout sits slightly higher than the bezel dot at the 3 o'clock. I think its a defect of the dial and not the bezel.Sporkboy wrote: ↑Fri Jul 05, 2019 5:59 am

I don't quite remember, but I think I swapped that bezel onto Sdelka from one of my Amphibia mods. Turns out Amphibia bezels also fit Komandirskies. Gimme a minute to check it out, but I think I have pics from when I first got her.watchpalooza wrote:The only thing that I notice is the bezel alignment with the date window. Edit: Yep! I found pics of Sdelka when I got her and pics of the mod the bezel came from.

Re: The Traveling Komandirskie. Who wants it?
Sorry to quote the long post, but this is just really cool. It makes me very happy having Sdelka visit these important pieces of history that I myself may never see. Really really good stuff my man, and more than I could have expected when sending Sdelka out. I know that I, and I am sure others appreciate you sharing the adventure.watchpalooza wrote:In a small park on the west side of Munich there is a monument to recognize individuals who had the courage to oppose the Nazi regime during WWII and gave their lives in doing so. It is a site most tourists never see. There are pillars arranged in a ring, each with a photo and individual story of heroism. It is called "The Resistance Monument". Often locals place floral arrangements or lit candles in front. Sdelka and I visited yesterday.

Re: The Traveling Komandirskie. Who wants it?
I love the idea of painting the caseback. Yours turned out great! The idea of Sdelka picking up some "character" on the adventure is a great one, and something I am definitely not opposed to. Great idea!Sporkboy wrote:Crap. Watchpalooza has really stepped up the game here. This does not bode well for me and my photography skills and limited venues. Should still be fun though.

As suspected, the girlfriend was very jealous. She said if you have anymore pics of Pokemon fest to pm them to me. And now she wants me to take her to one next year... [emoji849]watchpalooza wrote:First photos from Pokemon Go Fest 2019... it is at Westfalenpark in Dortmund.

Re: The Traveling Komandirskie. Who wants it?
I have a ton more pics and will upload them soon. Tell her I caught 23 shiny in 1.5 days (and still going). There are so many pokemon players here this weekend tvat you cannot walk down the street without meeting a huge group going raid hunting. Meeting people from Japan, Florida, California, Alabama, France, Spain, UK, Germany, and a few others. My wife even waited in line to take a picture and get an autograph from one of the more known Youtubers. Add to this that at night is a giant street party / festival for Sommerfest that is like South by Southwest, only bigger...and its pretty fun.Bbrou33 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2019 8:57 amAs suspected, the girlfriend was very jealous. More shots from Westfalenpark and the Pokemon Go Fest. Truly a beautiful park.
Statue of Wilhelm I...some history here: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/William ... an_Emperor In the “Mysterious Woods” they had a wooden hut that was a giant bubble maker. Every 30 seconds a heart-shaped cluster of 100’s of tiny bubbles would eject and float up into the sky Poke-art

This outside the Dortmund central station...look closely to find Sdelka.
