Afternoon switch to my Grandfather's Leonidas. 77 years ago today he landed on the second wave at Omaha beach and fought his way through France and into Germany before he got a million dollar wound before the bulge.

Somewhere along the way he picked up this watch. I really wish I knew the whole story but he didn't like to talk about that stuff. He took me to Normandy in 2008 and I got to walk the beach with him. Best trip of my life.

Today I wore the watch that started it all. A birthday gift from my wife. After years of not having to keep a watch, she thought that a gentleman should have one...or something like that. Talk about opening Pandora’s box .

So amazing that you got to take that trip with him. I love that you werr able to do that, and that makes an already awesome watch so much cooler thanks to that bond. Incredible.

[emoji23] if she only knew beforehand. Who could have predicted it would lead you to become a prominent member of a cult errrrr. . . . legion. . . .errr. . . a watch guy?!? Whatever. Glad she made that choice for you, and we are all grateful.

Petty car compliance since it was recently mentioned. I was at NASCAR today, and saw this. Don't know if the king himself ever drove a grand national, but this thing was awesome. I was beverage compliant with a PBR but unpictured. Good race, even better day.

He drove a Regal in the 1981 season but moved to a Pontiac Grand Prix the next year.

Here is his 1983 car:

Mod Monday compliant with the jester. Waiting on my next shipment of jubilees, so I apologize for the oyster bracelet.

If we didn’t consider straps a mod, I would never be Mod Monday compliant. I mean, the world would continue to spin and all .

Exhibit A: I wear this some Monday’s because of the brushed replacement bracelet.

Tool watch Tuesday with a new LEGO set.

All of the retailers jumping on the opportunity of marketing for Pride irks me, but LEGO seems to have walked the walk of equality for a long time.

We knew as kids that Legos were the ****. It's nice to see that as adults, they are indeed still the ****. And I feel you on this new wave of capitalization on equality. On one hand, I am happy to see more people embracing the idea, for all parties. On the other? It seems everybody and their grandmas are trying to monetize it which doesn't sit well with me.
