Plein Soleil / Purple Noon (1960)

The young Alain Delon makes an ideal Ripley, charismatic but cold. The sailing scenes are spectacular and leave the image of sun, sea and spray. The only flaw is the ending. This was handled better in the 1999 Minghella version, but i still prefer this adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's The Talented Mt Ripley.

Just watched "Clue". I forgot how funny it was.

Nobody can get into that position.

Sure they can. Let me show you.

Get off me.

I remember when that came out in the theaters and you could go pick which ending you wanted to see.
I believe there was just three, which they combined together in the current version.

According to the web. There was to be a fourth version where Wadsworth was to poison everyone. But it was never made.

Another one of Tim Curry's lines that make me laugh each time I watch reruns of Psych.

I just came across two movies on Youtube I've been looking for for years.

Do you have a movie or two that bring back childhood memories? For whatever reason these two do that for me. "Bear Island", 1979, with Donald Sutherland. It's an Alstair Maclean thriller and "Ffolkes", 1980, with Roger Moore. Both of these were watched one night while I had some buddies of mine spend the night. I think we finished watching these movies around 4am. We were probably around 13 years of age then.

I'm starting on these two tonight. Somebody make me some Extra Butter Popcorn would ya.

I agree. I just finished it yesterday. Karl Urban plays his character to the fullest.

I tend to have a weakness for DC/WB animated Superhero movies. Especially anything with Batman in it. My son and I watched Batman Hush this afternoon. I liked it. But then again I'm 16 in my mind. Fair warning for those who will let younger kids watch it. It has a "Ton O' Language" in it. Spoiler alert for those who are fans. I'm not a comic book fan but from what I can gather, this movie does not follow DC cannon. Isuppose they've got to keep people guessing as to who Hush is. He's not who he's supposed to be.

The Jerk

These cans are defective.

He hates these cans! Stay away from the cans.

Bonus points if you can remember the dogs name without Googling it.

Just came home from watching Doctor Sleep.
I liked it quite a bit.

Is it as good as The Shining?
No. But it a good companion piece.

I managed to sneek out of the house over Thanksgiving to see Midway. Honestly, I didn't have very high hopes and I had not read any reviews. Really enjoyed it and that's coming from a WWII US naval history buff. I often worry that we are loosing our connection with history when we start thinking of consumer products (such as phones) as "old" when they have two years on them...plus this whole idea of "if it isn't posted online it didn't happen." There were some people behind me that had no idea that the events portrayed in the film really happened. During the film I of course knew of Admirals Nimitz, Halsey, and Yamamoto, but was pleasantly surprised that other characters were based on real people and events.

Just came home from the Theater. My son and I watched Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker. I thought it was pretty good. So did my son.

It's rare that I actually get to the movie theater but me and my pops just got back from Star Wars. There was almost nobody else in the theater which was nice. We had a great time and both enjoyed the movie. I'm not exactly a Star Wars nerd but I'll always have that sense of nostalgia about the first 3 movies. Even if I don't quite think of this one in the same way, I have to admit it has all the good stuff from the originals and exceeded my expectations. If they made a movie like this every 2 years for a couple more decades that wouldn't bother me one bit. I'd pay to see them in the theater, as I have for this recent trilogy. It was definitely good fun.
