This is fantastic. You did great! I love reading these threads and seeing what people can do with those Invictas. I picked one up on sale to play with, but haven't had time. You may be in the same boat soon but you won't regret it!Dub Rubb wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:47 pm Alright boys! I finally got the last piece for my mod in the mail today (bezel insert) and got it all together. This is only my second mod, so cut me some slack. This one involved a lot of firsts for me. First time dealing with the crazy Invicta bezel setup, first time removing an engraving and repolishing and first time removing a cyclops(there is still some residue to get rid of). Also, second time changing hands (F YOUUUUU seconds hand and wasting 45 minutes of my life!!!!!)
Here are the specs:
-Invicta 8926 (generously gifted to me by(WUS) WPAC member eDantes to help feed my addiction without buying anything)
-Bezel made by Dave Murphy of Murphy manufacturing (really helpful guy and great products. There are like 3 or 4 different bezel setups for 8926's from the factory, and he helped me determine which one I had as well as directing me to videos he made to aid removal and installation)
-Dagaz dial and hand set
-Bezel insert from ewatchparts on Etsy (not the highest of quality, but for $13 I ain't complaining)
-Removed the Invicta engraving from the case and sanded and polished (could have done better here, next time. . .)
-Removed the cyclops
All in all, I am very happy with the end result. After reinstalling the bracelet, the stupid folded end links are rattling, so I have to fix that now. Without any further delay, I present to you the Polar Coke-Splorer!!!

Just gave my rotor a acetone bath to remove the invicta label.

It needs a little cleaning, oiling and reinstallation. My watch is now a hand cranker!

Not bad for only your second mod. Looks really good. Do you have a before picture to show what you disposed of before making it purty?Dub Rubb wrote: ↑Thu Apr 11, 2019 7:47 pm Alright boys! Amazing transformation. Like it much better with the mods. Great work!

Re: Post your mods here!
Bbrou33 yeah, I used a knock off dremel from Amazon on the case. 1st, the sanding drum for removal of the logo, then I hand sanded the case from 400 grit up to 2000. Then used the polishing wheel with some metal polish to buff it out. Just be careful with the sanding drum. Take it slow, and work it evenly with gentle pressure.
I was gonna hand file it, but eff that! Power tools!!!!

Well guys. It's done. Successfully swapped the dial and hands on my 8927. Boy was it a bitch. Sorry if that word isn't allowed.
Honestly wasn't as bad as I thought but wasn't easy. I feel like once I stopped using magnification for the second hand is when I got it in place easier.
I lightly scratched the dial as well but really hard to see unless looking for it. Not sure when that happened. I did have to remove the minute have after I places it so maybe it was then
Overall, I'm really liking it. I ordered another set of hands too but I think this set works for me. Plus I'm probably gifting this watch to a friend next week.
I don't think I'll be sanding wording off. At least not if I gift it. I can always tell him I'll do it for him at a later date if he doesn't like it.
Well here are the pics of my first dial and have swap. Dial from Dagaz. Hands from Yobokies. Crystal from Crystal Times.

I love the FFF mods too and I think that handset looks great, especially the red tipped seconds hand. And the lume matches surprisingly well. I was always hesitant to mix and match dials and hands for fear of mismatched lume.
So whats the over under on how long before you buy another watch to mod?

Re: Post your mods here!
Presenting my first true mod!
As I have mentioned many a time, I have a disdain for the external dive bezel.
So much so, that I almost didn't purchase this Invicta World Cup edition.
[img][/img]
But then inspired by this thread and the Invicta mod thread on WUS, started to investigate if I had any options to make a change.
Came across Murphy Manufacturing, who does make a smooth bezel replacement.
The only question mark was if the case of my 28701 was the same as the 8926/8926OB family.
Seems like it is, 'cause I was able to do the bezel replacement fairly easily.
Though admittedly, botched the bezel insert removal. But didn't like it anyway, so not an issue for me.
Now I just need to do something about that cyclops...
Here are some pics of the results:

[img][/img]
[img][/img]
And if anyone wants the external bezel and click spring wire (is that the right term?) for an Invicta 8926OB, send me an PM and I can ship it out to you.

Re: Post your mods here!
I have no such aversion to dive bezels but I think it looks better with the smooth bezel. May I suggest a new ride to go with the watch?

Re: Post your mods here!
Looks great!!! I am gonna keep that bezel in mind for future mods, I didn't even know that Dave made those. As far as the Cyclops goes, if you just hit it with a torch style lighter (butane, blue flame) for a couple seconds (literally 2) it pops right loose. Then you can pry it off with an exacto knife since the glue has loosened. I still haven't removed the excess glue on mine, but will update once I do that.TheJohnP wrote:Presenting my first true mod!
