Awesome to see Sdelka still living her best life! In a strange turn of events, the traveling Vostok(Vlad) that inspired this thread is on its way to me! I was like 6th in line back in June 2018 but it went missing for a while. Empty slot in the watch box will be temporarily filled.

Sorry about the lack of updates. I've been crazy busy with job interviews, finding business accommodation and getting ready for our South Africa trip. Hopefully some amazing South Africa photos will make up for it!

Sorry for the lack of updates. Sdelka is doing well and has been on some adventures. We are still in Africa with limited connectivity so pictures and stories will have to wait until we are back home.

Arrived back in Wales from South Africa yesterday. It was a lovely long trip of just under 3 weeks. Mrs Animal Mother and I travelled around a bit and saw many cool and interesting things. We arrived in Johannesburg and travelled up to Northern Limpopo, just an hour and a bit from the border with Botswana. We then spent the rest of the trip in the Cape Town area and the Western Cape in the fruit, tea, and wine regions.

I tried to capture some nice, cool, and interesting photos with Sdelka. Three were some places I took her where I forgot to get her in shot, but she was there and loved it too!

The flight out. All 3 of us (me, Mrs AM and Sdelka) are excited!

We treated her to Business class. Not for Mrs AM or me of course. ;)

Travelling North from Joburg to Limpopo region. Long trip so a quick stopover near to Mokopane at the Legends Golf and Safari resort. The golf course has a special hole. "The Extreme 19th is the highest (400 metres or 1,300 feet) and longest (361 metres or 395 yards) par three golf hole in the world".

Sdelka enjoying the views around the resort.

Next lot.

We spent a most of the first week at one of our favourite places in the world, the Vhembe biosphere reserve in Northern Limpopo region of South Africa. It has special conservation areas, one of which has a number of White Rhinoceros, including a calf! :D

It's a very special place and they are naturally very protective about what they do there. It's magical and part of my soul certainly belongs there.

3rd update and it's BLING time!

On our way back down to Jo'burg we stopped for a tour of a working diamond mine. Cullinan Diamond mine located close to Pretoria in Gauteng province is the mine where the famous Cullinan diamond was found. The Cullinan diamond is the largest diamond ever found, it was then cut into numerous other diamonds, some of which are still the largest cut diamonds in the world and can be found in the Crown Jewels of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Image

Sdelka was down in the working mine with me, no pics of her though, sorry.
My other passion is Land Cruisers so this was a pretty cool find!
Image
Big rock pecker used to break up the diamond containing stone known as Kimberlite.
Image

A couple of nights in the Dinokeng reserve near Pretoria. Sdelka experienced a South African traffic jam!
Image

Due to the stress of the heavy traffic  we stopped at a "bush pub" only to find a Puma Helicopter which was a rescued veteran of the Rhodesian war. :o
Image
It's likely that this is a photo of the actual helicopter taking off for Op Uric before being shot down.
Image

Sundowner the night before our flight to Cape Town.
Image

Next stop (and next instalment) is the Western Cape.
