I've been using my Bodum press and a Baratza Encore burr grinder for years. Love it. The mild inconvenience of cleaning in the morning is worth it in my opinion.ManOnTime wrote:I bought a new French press on an impulse while browsing/getting ideas at Ikea today.
French press and Aeropress are probably my favorite ways to make coffee.

Gentlemen, all else being equal, would French Press and Aeropress likely make a better cup of coffee than drip?
Re: Random Thoughts
Yes, especially with burr ground coffee.pdsf wrote:Gentlemen, all else being equal, would French Press and Aeropress likely make a better cup of coffee than drip?
Re: Random Thoughts
Coffee: Melitta for the win.
Burr grinder (Bodum in my case), of course, very fine grind.

Just my $0.02 USD as always.
Re: Random Thoughts
Generally, my only requirements for coffee are as follows:
1. Hot.
2. Ready.
Everything else is just a luxury I'll enjoy without complaint.

Thanks guys! Looks like I have to upgrade all my coffee paraphernalia!!
On a related note, I recently subscribed to Trade coffee. It's been pretty interesting so far as I get to sample coffees from different coffee importers and cafes around the country.

I'm a big fan of my vacuum coffee pot. Not great if you're in a hurry, but makes a perfect cup in my opinion. This plus a glass rod filter:
I miss fresh ground coffee. Spouse sleeps much later than me and the coffee grinder is pretty loud. If anyone has suggestions on a dead quiet grinder, I'm all ears.- peskydonut

Re: Random Thoughts
Have you considered a hand grinder? My impression is that they're a lot quieter, but also a bit of a workout.Sussa wrote:I'm a big fan of my vacuum coffee pot. Re: Random Thoughts
So I had some free time this morning and decided to visit a local spot (Bob's Watches). Got to try on a few variations of the sub to see what they would actually look and feel like.
1)116610LN
2)16610
3)14060
4)16800 (Circa 1985, my birth year)
RANDOM THOUGHTS:
- I'm glad I was able to try these on. I definitely do not like the latest maxi case and huge lugs.
- When comparing between #3 and #4, I actually think the #4's dial looks way cooler than the basic #3.
- I think I want a No-Date birth year SUB next!

Sumo oranges (Dekopon) are soooo delicious!
While everyone else is hoarding toilet paper, get yourself some Sumos!

I’m using the isolationist theme as a reason to go to state parks. Trying out some new ones.

Before dawn, it's snowing here this morning.
Skiing tomorrow.
Still winter!

Re: Random Thoughts
I never had these before, so while I was getting groceries I got a couple. They are very purely orangey sweet. I sourness or tang at all. Very nice change of pace for me, thank you.peskydonut wrote:Sumo oranges (Dekopon) are soooo delicious!
