That is too bad, but I appreciate the gif. Definitely contact the seller to try and return it or get a straight refund. In the past when a watch wasn’t working when sold that way, I have gotten to keep the watch and get my money back.TheJohnP wrote:Well my entry came in today.
Listed as working. Wouldn't run when wound.
Back to the drawing board...sigh.

Seller was very accommodating when I let him know it didn't arrive in working condition.

Not too late at all. There is no requirement to pre-register this time. Closer to the time that the shopping period closes (end of June), I will have people lock in their participation status.

Re: $35 Mechanical Field Watch Challenge
Welcome aboard. It should be interesting to see what everyone comes up with. There is no telling what we will turn up. If the last challenge is any indication, we will probably see things and brands that many of us have never heard of.WPybus wrote:I’m in! Great idea, can’t wait to see what everyone finds!

Re: $35 Mechanical Field Watch Challenge
I got hooked on this challenge and just spent a number of hours looking at candidates. I found some cool prospects, but I don't expect to throw my hat in the ring. So, Sporkboy, my question is: how about if I just post some links here to what I found? Might give folks some ideas.

Re: $35 Mechanical Field Watch Challenge
Let’s not do that. I don’t want it to be too easy or too hard. You have some listings you’d like to share, so if anyone is struggling then they can contact you directly. I think that sounds fair.BostonCharlie wrote:I got hooked on this challenge and just spent a number of hours looking at candidates. Re: $35 Mechanical Field Watch Challenge
That will happen. I stopped after I won my BIN haggling and a Bulova that I was watching sold for about $26. I hope that someone in the contest won it since I am keen to see what is under the hood.WPybus wrote:Gutted to wake up this morning and find I got ‘done’ on eBay for a 1940’s Peerex Hand winding beauty .... back to the drawing board!

Re: $35 Mechanical Field Watch Challenge
Luckily I cheered myself up when I made an offer that was over 50% less than the asking price and it was accepted.... standing by with horological tools in hand to investigate!!Sporkboy wrote: ↑Sat May 23, 2020 9:52 amThat will happen. These challenges are very cool but what I'd really like to see is a MOT watch!
