The New Yorker has a long article on hypercars--those zillion $$$ beasts that can go over 300 MPH.

Prices have finally dropped on higher mileage Raptors. Picked up a 2018 with 93K miles, Blue certified (3mos, 4K mile warranty) + $250 in service points, every option available, $73K sticker - $38K OTD. Drove 19 hours round trip to get it. Absolutely incredible trucks if you don’t need 700+ horsepower.

- Carbon Fiber overlays (helps cover some scratches on a 6 yo truck) *truck does have the C/F option
- AVS front hood cover (also covers some nicks/chips)
- All lights mounted/wired
- Added the FP gen II decals
- Still haven’t mustered the courage to remove the factory Raptor decals

That vehicle has no business looking THAT good inside and out with that many miles on it.

More tacky add-ons:

- Carbon fiber mirror covers to cover 6 years and 97K miles of rock chips
- Carbon fiber vent covers because I clearly have a carbon fiber fetish of some sort
- Hitch tow hook because 2 tow hooks in front and 2 in back are not enough
- Grill covers for my foglights
- Vent shades (fart relief on rainy days)
- Rigid ditch light covers
- Removeable bed tie downs

Coming soon
- Raptor decal to cover AVS logo on hood shield
- New center console lid with built in charger
- Under seat storage tray
- Color matching the running board inlays (already painted and cleared just need to install)
- Touch up paint forged wheels

- Running board inlays done. I tried to use Honda crinkle red paint the first time. It was too bright and it didn’t crinkle.
- AVS logo covered.
- Wheels touched up. Got the paint from eBay….perfect match.

Today - oil change

Soon - Bronze wheels. I’m a sucker for bronze wheels on red trucks. Discount Tire sent me an eBay offer dropping from $844 a set to $760. Local Discount Tire should match and then I can use their credit card to save another 5% so net $722.

Before with Honda non-crinkling, crinkle paint

After a little more subtle

DT’s visualization tool with Vision Korupt 17x9 bronze wheels. Color shows gray bead locks, will actually be satin black.

Real Raptor, same color as mine with Velgen wheels. $2,500 and over my budget.

OIL CHANGE - Learned something……oil changes for Raptors suck. Don’t mind removing the skid plates/covers….only 8 bolts and easy done. It’s the way the oil drains. It’s engineered that some lands on the skid plates. My OCD was cussing sone Ford engineers. I have a fix for next time.

REWIRED all of my lights the right way with wire loom and zips. No before picture as it was a hack job. Safe but cosmetically abhorrent. I have to be in the right mood to do wiring properly as it’s so tedious. I literally trimmed wires if they were more than 2” too long. It was bad before, just imagine 10 black and 10 red wires being fished from all over the truck.

For lights I added:
- 6 fogs (3 each side) with amber halos each side. Each light has one ground plus 2 power wire (1 fog, 1 halo)
- 2 ditch/hood light. Same as above with amber halos.
- 42” Curved lightbar
- 10” Amber fog light behind lower grill
10 total - 31 wires to ground or upfitter switch

Wheels
- $682 for all 4, eBay sale
- Vision Korupt 17x9 +12 offset (zero poke by my eye)
- Bronze finish with faux bead lock. Looks the part though.

Tires
- $579 for all 4, eBay sale
- Goodyear Goodyears (apparently Ford made them take Wrangler off the sidewall)
- 315/70r17 GY looks a little beefier from the side but about 1.5” skinner
- Setup 18#’s lighter than bead locks and K02’s. So save 72#’s in unsprung weight. MPG sky-rocketed from 13 to 13.1.

TPMS
- Under $25 all 4, these worked off Amazon, Discount Tire had no issues with programming.
