Since it's butt-kicking cold here at the moment, I went a little virtual drive instead:

I know it will spend it's life in a garage (unfortunately), but I'm not mad that this car is an automatic. If it was to be used as a drag or grand touring car it makes sense.

That engine combo would make so much torque in a narrow powerband that if it were manual it would be living in 2nd and 3rd gear territory all day anyway.

I use to 1/4 mile race a lot. 2006 300C SRT8, built motor with a little P1 pro charger. Made 725 at the wheels and we backed it off to 650rwhp due to fuel system limitations. Ran a 10.74 @ 128mph.

Google tells me these are (presuming base models rear tires) 295/35R20 and something like 185/70R15 or maybe even 165 width. That's like 5 inches in difference.

Can any car nuts identify the car in this picture? Probably taken around 1940, give or take a few years.

The grill, hood ornament, and hood vents lead me to believe it is a Buick Special from about 1939.

The Special was Buick's most popular, and least expensive model. Something like 85% of Buick's output in 1939 was Specials.

This is it.

Buick and Chevrolet (and to a lesser extent Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Cadillac) shared so many body components at that time. Engines however were a different story. Each division had their own, and they were fiercely protective of them and competitive with each other.

The Chevrolet would have had a straight 6 while the Buick would have had a straight 8.

Last week I had to jump start my car. It was out of battery. Except for going to the supermarket one day, I hadn't used it since January 1st due to the citizen's confinement. Although my car is quite a few years old now, I don't think I'm going to consider changing it for a period of time.

Besides, there is not a single car under 30k euros that seems attractive to me. Car prices have gone up by 5-10k euros in a few years due to emission standards. And it can get worse. Lately almost all of them are those horrible and dangerous SUVs.
