The best release from Basel in my opinion. These are stunning. I may end up with the 3-hander.

@robotazky
I really like both of these and I love the different materials they've been using for Presage dials. Also a fan of the Zodiac GMT. And I'm impressed with the Bulgari Octo GMT chronograph even if I don't like how it looks. But to be completely honest, I'm also a little disappointed with Seiko so far this year. The past two years at Basel they have released really cool up-market divers but they also released really cool and similar 6R15 divers for fans like me. This year they release the 6105 redo which is over 4K and most of their other new stuff is expensive Grand Seiko Spring Drive. I'm hoping there might be more in my price range that either isn't getting much coverage or just hasn't been revealed so far. I say this like somebody who needs more watches.... :roll:
The only “problem” with these is the strap. I had a Presage chronograph with this strap and it was embarrassingly cheap. Straight junk.

@robotazky
And the deployant sits weird on your wrist. I could never get it to sit flat.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

New colors are coming for the Bulova Oceanographer "Devil Diver" and I'm excited. I know plenty of people will be disappointed or even upset about the use of Miyota's 8200 series movement in an almost $800 watch. But here is my hope. Bulova seems to be releasing 2 or 3 new colorways and from what I can tell none of them are limited production. So the increased availability (supply) coupled with that fact that many enthusiasts say they won't buy watches with this movement (demand) could help bring these prices down well below $300 by later this year or next year. Then my only problem will be which colorway 🤔💸⌚😁 I have no problem with the movement and feel it has a very solid history of reliability. These models aren't up on Bulova's website currently. Only article I could find so far is from ABTW. Scroll right for a closer look at all 3 colors. Which is your favorite?

I also posted these on another thread.

The Citizen Caliber 0100 reaching a significant milestone in horology +- 1 SPY

This is one of three models released, AQ6010-06A, 8.4 Mhz, 18K white gold, limited to 100 pieces, $16.8K.

“Caliber 0100” utilises AT cut type crystal oscillators rather than traditional tuning fork-shaped crystal oscillators most often used in quartz watches. AT cut type crystal oscillators vibrate at a frequency of 8.4 MHz (8,388,608 Hz), which is more than 250 times higher than tuning fork-shaped crystal oscillators. This ensures that this new mechanism remains resistant to outside influences such as temperature fluctuations and effects of gravity, as well as age degradation. (from Citizen)

Zenith Delfy, several models released, very limited quantities.

This particular one has one model, 95.9001.9100/78.R584.
A new monolithic oscillator made out of Silicon, Frequency of 18Hz. $17.8K. The Zenith Oscillator is a single silicon component which incorporates the functions of the balance wheel, balance spring, and lever in a conventional lever escapement. (from Hodinkee)

Awesome! The Zenith is so bonkers. This is what 15 Hz looks like on the Zenith Defy Lab. At some point they must have reworked the oscillator to twerk at 18 Hz for this new Inventor model.

Worn and Wound has a podcast that I've never listened to very much before but I have listened to a fair amount during this ongoing Baselworld. They've mentioned two watches that I haven't been able to find much information about. One is from Orient. Apparently this was the first year Orient had an exhibit at Basel and they are introducing a 36mm Orient Bambino on a bracelet. I know many Orient fans have expressed a desire for a smaller Bambino so the new release should be well received. Another watch that the podcasters mentioned and really liked was a burgundy dial Oris Big Crown Pointer Date. There is a picture of it on their IG (I'll link below) but I don't see anything about it in print. I imagine they just haven't gotten around to publishing anything about these watches yet. I'll try to remember to update the thread if I see anything new about either of them.

Bulova has brought back Computron LED in all it's retro futuristic funkiness. I found a few articles and pictures but not much in the way of details.

Image

Between the two articles there is conflicting info for pricing but I think the gold and stainless bracelet models will be $395 and the black with rubber strap will be $295. There is one button on the side of the case that displays the time, date, and a second time zone sequentially. I wish they would have given the stainless steel model and red display like the other two but I hate to complain about this. It's just really cool that they've revived this in any form. Check out the Watchonista article for more pics.

A little while back in this thread, I was complaining that Seiko was only releasing high-end watches this year at Baselworld. I was wrong. It now seems there are plenty of upcoming models in my price range, they just haven't received as much attention or press. I found an article on Fratello Watches about changes being made to the Sumo. Basically there will be two new models with sapphire crystal and the new 6R35 movement with its 70 hour power reserve. It sounds like there will be a few other minor tweeks and a price bump too.

However the real gold mine of information about all of Seiko's Baselworld releases comes from an Aussie website I was not familiar with, Plus9Time. Below is a link to all the new Seikos on their site . This page has renders of all of the new watches. Click on the links below those renders for specs. All prices are in AUD. There is some pretty cool stuff coming; a green c0cktail time, a new trio of Save the Ocean divers, a solar update to Arnold Schwarzenegger's Commando watch, more enamel Presages and even tan-lume Monsters (doesn't seem right to me), and plenty more. Out of all of them, I think I like the 3 hand porcelain Presage and the STO Samurai. What are your favorites?

I bought the original chrome model, and then returned it because it was just too much shiny, polished bracelet and case for me. I was hoping that they might do a brushed version, but this looks pretty good.

So it turns out the 36mm Bambino is intended to be a ladies watch. Certainly men will be able to wear this but to my eye, with it's slender lugs and narrow lug width in relation to the case size, it has the proportions of a more feminine watch.

I still haven't found any write-ups regarding the new Pointer Date but I was able to find the ridiculous Oris reference #, 01 754 7741 4068-07 5 20 50, which lead me to the details on the Oris site and a pre-order page from Topper Jewelers, where the watch sells for $1600.
