Seiko's new automatic dive watch, the SLA033 (SBDX031 is the Japan reference), is a re-creation of the late 60's / early 70's 6105-8110/8119, also known as the Captain Willard. It is a Limited Edition release of 2500 pieces. People have been saying this was going to come out for quite some time, so I'm not at all surprised by the release. However I admit to some serious sticker shock. This one will retail for $4,250.

I know, I was thinking the same thing. I'm not complaining tho. I could see myself wearing any of the 3. They're not astronomical prices and all of them are a reasonable size too.

@robotazky
Yea, I feel the same. Had no idea this would be priced so high. I'll stick to the Turtle and other low-end Seiko Divers for less than a tenth of the price.

^^^ The small seconds Great Barrier Reef model was the one that grabbed my attention. All three new Aquis models are awesome if you ask me.

Seiko Presage Arita Porcelain Dial Watches

Image

Two porcelain dial watches are coming out in September of this year. The 3 hand SPB095 / SARX061 with a 6R35 movement and price of $1600 and the power reserve SPB093 / SARW049 with a 6R27 movement and price of $1800. Seiko says the porcelain used for the dials is four times harder than normal porcelain. I think what is most notable though is the debut of this 6R35 movement. I see some conflicting information about it online but it is reported to be slimmer than the 6R15 and with an increased power reserve of 70 hours.

Caliber 6R27 (SPB093)
Vibrations: 28,800 vibrations per hour (8 beats per second)
Power reserve: 45 hours
Number of jewels: 29
Caliber 6R35 (SPB095)
Vibrations: 21,600 vibrations per hour (6 beats per second)
Power reserve: 70 hours
Number of jewels: 24
Specifications
Stainless steel case
Arita Porcelain dial
Dual-curved sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating
See-through screw case back
Diameter: 40.6mm, Thickness: 14.1mm (SPB093)
Diameter: 40.5mm, Thickness: 12.4mm (SPB095)
Water resistance: 10 bar
Magnetic resistance: 4,800 A/m
Crocodile strap with three-fold clasp with push button release

The best release from Basel in my opinion. These are stunning. I may end up with the 3-hander.

@robotazky
I really like both of these and I love the different materials they've been using for Presage dials. Also a fan of the Zodiac GMT. And I'm impressed with the Bulgari Octo GMT chronograph even if I don't like how it looks. But to be completely honest, I'm also a little disappointed with Seiko so far this year. The past two years at Basel they have released really cool up-market divers but they also released really cool and similar 6R15 divers for fans like me. This year they release the 6105 redo which is over 4K and most of their other new stuff is expensive Grand Seiko Spring Drive. I'm hoping there might be more in my price range that either isn't getting much coverage or just hasn't been revealed so far. I say this like somebody who needs more watches.... :roll:

The only “problem” with these is the strap. I had a Presage chronograph with this strap and it was embarrassingly cheap. Straight junk.

The new TAG Heuer Autavia Isograph is probably one of the more surprising new releases of Baselworld 2019. It is clearly not a chronograph and therefore looks nothing like past Autavia models. It took me all of a few minutes to get over that little detail and now I like these watches more and more every time I see them.
