Just got the email that the bronze Horizons GMT models are now available. They are the same price as the steel versions:

What do you think? Is the PVD coating rather than titanium and bronze cases the right way to go or is this a missed opportunity for Alpina?

Timex has once again gone back through its archives and now brings us the Q Diver Reissue. The company started making quartz watches in 1972. But it wasn't until 1979, with the release of the Q diver, that they made the switch from mechanical watchmaking to fully embracing quartz technology.

Not entirely true.

Timex had quartz watches at least three to four years prior, including LCD and quartz-controlled balance wheel models. However, 1979 did begin their big push with the "Big Q" marketing.

I'm really liking this reissue. It's the most faithful one to date. I'm really, really tempted to get one but am struggling with if I can justify it at the moment.

(Also I'm hunting for a discount code that will work.)

That's why I put this in there.

I tried some codes yesterday but couldn't find anything that worked.

I really love the profile pic....very cool.

Only thing I can think of for a discount is maybe the 15% discount when you sign up for their emails. If you've used yours maybe a friends or families email could work.

Also, the press release says it is limited but I don't see anything else about that or the quantities. Anyone else see more about that?

I avoid bracelets at all costs, but I would probably wear this one.

Ordered. As a guy with small wrists that prefers quartz or handwound, this was a no-brainer. Also got the 15% discount for signing up for e-mails. Not too shabby.

Just saw this from Gnomon... Limited Edition Blue Superman Heritage from Yema (500 pieces, $980 USD)

http://www.gnomonwatches.com/superman-h ... -ed-500pcs

“Faithful to its predecessor, the 300m water resistance Yema Superman heritage Blue is a direct reissue of their famous diver Ref. 24.11.7 that features the unique sunburst blue dial, with its true to size 39mm steel case, featuring straight pointy lugs but still keeping the original lug to lug distance of 48mm, and 14mm thick. This Blue retro-diver is a limited edition of 500 pieces.”

It’s worth noting that the specs listed at the bottom of the listing say 13mm thick as opposed to 14mm. Not sure which is right. Stunning watch regardless.

Yema's website says 13mm. I've always loved the Yema Superman, both the originals and the re-issues. This blue looks fantastic. I hope to own a modern one at some point and I've been entertaining the idea of one of the bronze models that will be coming up on Kickstarter. The only problem with those is they use Yema's in-house movement rather than an ETA like this one. I know that's what most people seem to want but I'd probably rather have the ETA for ease and cost of service in the rare event it actually becomes a "keeper".

The press release says it is but I couldn't find anything more about how many pieces are being made. So hopefully that means there is a chance they will be selling more. If they say it is limited and don't specify how many, they can just have a trial run and see how it goes with a small amount and then decide to make more i guess.
Q Timex is available for purchase in limited quantities for $179 on Timex.com and select stores globally beginning May 2019.
