Here’s a close up of my reissue Antarctic and a funky shot of one of my older models, it was my first automatic Nivada and cost around £20

Noooiiice. I just heard those numerals are unique to the Antarctic.

How did i miss this thread?!?

I love Nivadas ...
This was my first one.
Fiberglass-cased handwinder.

Got this one next. Croton was the licensed importer for Nivada for a while, and it depends on which article you read as to why. Mostly about avoiding copyright issues I believe...

I soon became infatuated with the flat lugs of the Antarctic case. After picking up a couple in gold-plated for cheap, I snagged this one. It's larger than the originals from the 50s, but still has the cool lugs.

Image

Then I picked up this watch as 'refurbished' from India. I quickly found a dial I liked and some new hands. My first small steel-cased shaved-lug Antarctic!

Image

Picked up a handful of Compensamatic pieces along the way. I've had 2 of these serviced. One is a linen dial and the other 2 are sunburst or whatever.

(Pics won't load)

This last one is a bit of a mystery. It's the Antarctic case. And the numbers\dial. But it doesn't say Antarctic on it. Still dig it.

There will be a new version of this available this summer from NivadaGrenchen, will be interesting to see how popular it proves to be, I like the style personally!
New model coming out Aug 26th!!

Edit - you can order startnig Aug 26th; delivery will be Jan 2022. I am hoping it will have the same 20ATM as other Antarctic models.
Price : USD 775 / 650 € / CHF 700
I was really hoping they'd be a bit more faithful, size-wise.
I have 4 34mm Nivadas(2 of them are Antarctic-cased pieces) and while this one has the cool lugs, it looks big and bulky compared to the vintage ones. Also I was hoping one of the bracelets for the Spider would fit an old one, but at 18mm vs 20mm, it's not to be!

I would like to see one in hand though. And they did a bang-on job with the spider dial!
