Coffee lovers unite.

We have seen the Glycine coffee Combat Sub, there are numerous watch photos featuring coffee, we even know about @BostonCharlie's 30-year-old coffee grinder, so I think it's time to have a coffee thread! Please, talk amongst yourselves..

I felt in love with Kaladi Brothers coffee when I visited Alaska a few years ago. I have been ordering from them ever since. https://kaladi.com/

I also have a coffee subscription - with Trade (https://www.drinktrade.com/), and it's been a great way to sample coffee from different outfits around the country. It's fun.

Hello, I will try to contribute here too. Thanks @pdsf for creating this me and @MiggyD87 derail the Discord quite often over this topic.

I have a Breville/Sage dual boiler and Niche Zero grinder. I picked up this hobby during the lockdown period of 2020. I make my own espresso at home and other milk based coffee drinks. My wife is my lab rat for experimenting new or different types of lattes and whatnot. I mainly drink cortados or small flat white.

I also like to do pour overs sometimes and I use Hario V60 for that. When I'm traveling I pack my trusty Aeropress and a cheap hand grinder with me.

V60 with locally roasted coffee. I have a Vario Skerton Pro hand grinder and a scale that measures to 0.1g and has a built in timer.

I make a pour over every morning: (coffee:H2O)

12g:200g or 18g:300g (1:16.66 ratio)

Size varies based on time to drink said coffee.

Grinder is set to 9 clicks out from bottoming out the bur set.

I use James Hoffman's complete V60 guide for my process (grind, bloom (time and volume), C:h2O ratio and H2O temperature.

Our setup is:
-Breville barista express for weekend espresso drinks
-OXO 8-cup drip coffee maker for weekday mornings
-V60 for pour overs
-The cheapest (I think) Baratza conical burr grinder that is probably 7 years old at this point. Freshly grinding your coffee every day is the biggest step up you can make if you are using pre-ground stuff. You will notice a difference immediately.

I usually buy coffee from a local place called Noble Coyote. They roast Tuesdays and Thursdays and you can put in an order the day before.

Fun little cheat sheet for anyone who owns a Skelton Pro
HarioSkertonPro.jpg
It's interactive, so if you own one of the 54 grinders, you can look yours up and (I believe) it will adjust the location for the type of coffee you are looking to make.

I’m down to my professional K pod machine until I get moved and can break out my equipment. I really only use a French press anymore. I like cold brew stashed in my press in the fridge overnight, or standard hot presses.

BUT, I have the new espresso machine I got thanks to BillionairDoors that will come out first day when I get to TN.

Have a collection like @BostonCharlie - A turkish, a press, a few others. Most recently we are breaking this in: https://us.jura.com/en/homeproducts/mac ... k-NA-15281

So far very happy with it.

Here's a question.

How often do you clean your grinder burrs?

I have quite a few different coffee-making items; Automatic drip, Keurig, Bialetti Moka Express, Aeropress, Turkish, French Press, etc.

This will be delivered tomorrow:

Mostly I just like my coffee hot and fast and I don't really care how that happens. (Including a heaping spoonful or two of Taster's Choice in hot water.)

You really don’t have to ever, but mine is electric and it will cake up over time in the flow channels.

I bet hardcore people clean them after ever use to keep from tainting the next cup with stale grounds. I have no idea if it’s noticeable, but interested to hear from others.

I know this is about coffee, but I’m curious if anyone knows much about Yerba Mate. My friend in AZ had a mate bar and I learned a lot. Mateine is a combination of caffeine and other alkaloids, and it has a noticeably different effect than caffeine. Much cleaner if you ask me. Highly motivational.

Anyone?
