Ideas on 2-3 months of mini reviews

Post by Robotaz »

I have decided to contribute back to forums with a “60 Days of RobotAZ’s Collection” type thread. I have about 60 watches and can keep the thread-beast going pretty well out of my own closet.

I have wondered about written vs video, and how to position and photograph the watches in a simple, standardized way to minimize me dying to not do it. I want to position, shoot a few shots, type, move on in 10 minutes. Maybe a rotating platform in a light box? It can’t cost that much and I think would be worth it. I can probably find props for $100 on SlickDeals.

If you had the ideal short review to enjoy, and it’s efficient enough to be worth it to everybody, what would it be?

1) love it.
2) getting down to the essence would be great. Quick specs. Things you like. Things you don't. Why it's still in your collection. Move on.

This.

A quick-cut type of presentation would be fun.

Great idea @Robotaz, I'll subscribe.

Basically what @TheJohnP said:

"Here's why I bought it."
"Here's what I like."
"Here's what I don't like."
"This thing about this watch is particularly cool."

Stuff like that, spending a few seconds on each thing instead of the minutes of droning that occurs in many videos. Quick transitions from one thing to the next.

I can see it in my head better than I can explain it.

This would be cool. I'm a written words person, but everyone seems to be doing video nowadays so that probably has more mass appeal.

You can get a light box on Amazon for $30 or less. And if you own a square g shock with the box, the plastic holder it comes on makes a pretty good watch stand.
I wish that watch were 38mm?

Love this idea. It is something I have considered doing myself but never seem to get to it. Show us the way!

Now I’m hung up on staging with ease.

Can you buy rotating platforms on the cheap?

I’m thinking light box and the watch rotates, stops, slows. The rest is written or spoken.

Maybe just a lazy Susan? Spin it and start recording? Could even slow it down in editing.

Trust me, I will love it more than anyone.

I have tasks to complete.

Today I completed upkeep on wife’s (6) quartz and (2) autos. Everything was dead.

The Precisionist case back was a bear.

My pick’s in descending order are Oris, Mondaine (big date is too dam cool), Victorinox, Precisionist, Glycine, Seiko (says I love you on the back from 2006), Skagen, Bulova open heart.

I hope this doesn’t become “Why RobotAZ hasn’t started this thread” thread.

And nobody has seen my wife’s watches, so I hope it’s interesting buried in this thread.

I’m about to send this beautiful Arctura in to Seiko for capacitor.

Just a quick "presentation" of the watches would be cool - there are enough reviews out there. You could do a video with minimal voice summarizing the important bits but with extended written overlays over the video/pictures - a bit of both worlds...most videos are too herky-jerky for me, with me having to pause to pick up written bits and pieces. And nobody wants to hear people drone on about a watch....
