A place for all those little irks and annoyances you have about watches and watch collecting. Go ahead, get ‘em off your chest! Here are mine:

• casebacks that look like screw-type but are in fact pop-off
• second hand that does not align with markers
• crowns that are too small to comfortably use
• sellers that use the wrong size bands or spring pins (just had an 18mm lug watch arrive crammed with 20mm pins and had to cut them off)
• great watches with bracelets that feel like plastic-weight
• new watches that arrive with debris inside the watch (dial or movement)
• otherwise well-constructed leather straps with poorly glued or sewn retention rings that fall off
• large watches that feel oddly light (usually quartz)
• crowd-funded watches that make direct sales sound like a new idea and claim to be the first to offer “affordable luxury”
• wristwatches that are pocket-watch sized
• watches that Follow no clear singular design and styling concept (see many models by Invicta)
• ridiculously inflated retail pricing
• frankenwatches
• ebay listings starting or ending with the word “Rare” and usually a bunch of !!!!!!’s
• online retailers accepting orders for inventory they do not have
• more than 3-day lag in response time for a return or repair request
• more than a 2-day lag in shipping an order
• tracking number provided, but days pass before package is handed to carrier

Ahhhhh, that feels much better! Ok, your turn...

* Date placement other than 3, 6, or even 12. I will allow for offset date placement on a chrono however.
* A date window that shows more than one numeral. Deal breaker just about every time. I hate the extended date window, so, so much.

I'm with you on the extended date window. I'm pretty laid back and can roll with just about anything...other than this (and maybe the date at 4 ). I can't imagine what this could be useful for unless you can't remember what yesterday was or wonder what tomorrow is...and even that will not be correct all of the time.

The only justification I've read that made any sense is that when the current date is covered by the hour/minute hand, you can still determine the date by the numerals before and after.

Still seems more of an aesthetic design trend that needs to go away.

-Tachymeter scales on three handers.

-Sub-second marks on quartz watches with 60bps.

This one infuriates me. Also:
---No micro-adjustments.
---Brands and retailers that don't disclose the movement (Swiss mechanical, Japanese automatic, etc.)
---I admit that poor alignment on Seiko divers bothers me but not as much as it enrages others.

More about a watch site rather than watches:

On Amazon, after doing a search for a particular brand of watch, you are faced with 2 rows of sponsored dreck before the watches you are looking for appear.

The overrated, overpriced, and very inconsistent 6r15 movement.

I otherwise love the look of that watch. Someone here has one and I commented on how sharp it is, and I meant that. Just because I’m not a fan of a design aspect doesn’t mean that someone else cannot overlook or even enjoy it. I guess that’s what makes this hobby great!

Agree, with no date window this would be a fantastic design.

I'll second the peeve about small crowns--especially when placed between large crown guards.

Two main pet peeves:

1. Watches that look like they have rotating bezels but are fixed.

2. Chronographs that use a sub-dial rather than the center seconds for the chrono seconds.

#1 is definitely another of mine. For me #2 is the reverse...I hate when a chrono uses a sub-dial for regular seconds and a center seconds for chrono. When I glance at the watch and don’t see the center seconds running, my first thought is always that it has stopped. It takes me then a few seconds to realize that the center seconds only runs with the chrono function.
