Just noticed that Goodwill near my assistant in NYC is open again. Stopped in really quick but didn't see much. They mostly carry clothes. But I need to go back and review all your tips so I can maybe score something.

Learn clothing brands. I often find unusual brands that sell for a lot.

Let's see if this counts as an entry.
Bought an Omega Planet Ocean for $2,300 off Facebook Marketplace. Traded it for an Omega SMP Bond 2531.80 and $1600 cash.
Ended up with less cash in my pocket but ended up with more "value" in total and a watch I have been chasing for a while.
WINNER
Trading Omegas to end up with a >$2000 watch for $700 is a nice flip. Well done!
claus1100xx PM me with your name and address so I can ship the prize to you.

The winner can share it when they receive it.
Now that this "contest" is complete, please do not hold future events without being upfront about what the prize is or without clearing it through me, watchpalooza or TheJohnP first.

Thanks.
I thought it was more fun as a surprise. Since it's not appreciated, this will be the last one.

Let’s not do this... Personally I am really happy to have so many members want to do challenges and giveaways. That is fantastic. Please understand that as the hosts here, we have an obligation to make sure things run smoothly. You can do prizes as a surprise, but we ask that the management team here be aware of what is being offered. Cool?

The good news is that your prize has shipped and is scheduled for delivery Wednesday. The bad news is there have been a lot of delays with the postal service lately. Hopefully it arrives on schedule.

Flipped a sofa that someone gave me 10 years ago and got $50 for it on Craigslist.

I got a few really nice items cheap/free on Nextdoor.
$500 full-automatic espresso machine for $30 because they thought it was broken. Works fine and I use it every morning.
Cheap treadmill for free that I used to rehab my dog.
$700 dual-stage snowblower for free that wouldn't start. Put a new $20 carburetor on it and gave it to my sister.
$1400 New Balance 9000 elliptical for I think $100.

If I had room in my apartment, I've always thought about doing this. Maybe when we upgrade in the coming months. In NYC, especially now, people are moving out like crazy and always looking to just get rid of stuff.
I find stuff on the sidewalk all the time. Got a nice 10 bottle wine fridge on the sidewalk one night 2 years ago. Found some weights earlier when covid began. Tons of other things are always just sitting there.
